Yeah, very good news on them, not so much on Rico. I put my anointing oil away.

Gathers was never a player I even gave pause to think about. He has not played since grade school, so a long road was to be expected for ahead for him.

I just am a little surprised by how he has melted down and appears to be losing his composure.

It makes you wonder what he is thinking, like he took the accolades thrown his way to heart.

It does make you rethink your opinion about him. Maybe he thought it would be easier? Maybe he struggles to handle adversity? Maybe he's just immature?

He was a near lock for my own original 53 to start training camp. Now? Not so much.

Scandrick played like a #1 CB in the second half of the 2014 season. If he gets back to that form its a big deal.

Really glad to see Scandrick return to form after recuperating from his injury.

This is just what our secondary needed for a magnificently welcomed boost.

It should allow our newbies to come along and be developed in fine fashion.

Anyone know if Jaylon is going to play against Cincinnati?

I heard some media guy say he'd be held out for it. It may have just been speculative, although he stated it as fact.

Gathers was the worst player I've ever witnessed in a preseason game in my life. I literally laughed at the TV watching him try to block. He looked ridiculous.

I think he spent the offseason reading this forum. LOL, oops.

Very true. Plus Brown and Carroll aren't newbies, and Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis have first round talent. This position could be dramatically better than last year.

I thought Marquez White was a practice squad guy for sure and even he is looking good.

I doubt reading a fan message board is going to do that.

Now, it did not help that Mike Pope was telling him on his way out the door: “You’re about to bring havoc to the NFL because no guys out there are as tough as you. There are no guys out there that work harder than you. You got a work ethic that the NFL is really lacking. As long as you keep that work ethic up you’re going to be great, you’re going to be a Pro Bowl tight end, you’re going to be a great tight end.”

Man the Gathers news is not surprising, disappointed they didn't nab one of the million available in this past draft.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the guys we have behind Witten already; Swaim and Hanna. Not to say that we couldn't have found an upgrade to these two in this years draft; but doing so would have meant not getting a much more needed upgrade on defense and likely taking a step back in run blocking, which is something both Swaim and Hanna do very well.

I had Rico making this team, but given the recent reports, as well as, this one, I suspect he'll need another year of ps before he is completely ready, both physically and, more importantly, mentally.
