I had heard on the Break that Edoga was getting work at tackle in Dallas before he was hurt. And not looking particularly good doing it.

His ‘good guard’ play comes from one game in Atlanta vs the Bears, one of the weakest defensive fronts of 2022. And even then, he was described as acceptable.

I’m OK with backup options virtually anywhere else. But right tackle concerns me.
I can't blame you for being concerned. I currently think Martin is our best option there. And I think Bass might prove to be a better option than Edoga to step in at right guard if that happens. In fact, based on what we saw in the preseason, I might would be willing to go with Richards if Tyron were injured instead of moving Tyler and inserting Edoga. The only real knocks we have against Richards and Bass right now are that they are young.

However, I do think Edoga will be one of the backups we carry to games because of his ability to play several positions ... even if he plays them poorly.

I’m in total agreement with you here. I’d rather Martin at RT and Bass at RG if we had to replace Steele. I think that’s best 5 at that point.

Same goes for Richards at LT if Tyron were hurt, although I’m also intrigued by Bass at LG if you wanted Tyler at LT.

I think we got a really good one with him.

Yes the Cowboys' official site lists the practice squad as complete but their article lists Alex Taylor twice and makes no mention of Sean Harlow. There is still one open spot.

With the agreement that he will be re-signed.
Is this one of the deals where he is a vested veteran and so he doesn't have to go through waivers?

If he agreed to be resigned, then does he go to the active roster or to the practice squad? In either case doesn't that mean they have to cut another?

I'm not trying to be smart, obviously. I'm a little stuck on these rules.

Not sure about Bass at LG just simply because we haven't seen him there. But if I remember right, he was an LT in college, so playing on the left side should come natural to him.

Yes. He’s vested. I think they put other guys on IR and then bring him back.

Procedural.

And he did play some left guard in college.

Did he? OK, I didn't know that. If he can handle the right side as well as he did, when he's a left-side player, there's good reason to hope that he'd play as well or better on the left side.

In a way we can thank Zack Martin's holdout for helping the Cowboys get a good look at T.J. Bass. He got a ton of right guard reps in camp (not that Martin would have gotten all that much anyway, but you know what I mean).

All that work helped him get better and better.

That’s my thinking. And heck, maybe with his feet, he could eventually play right tackle. But you can’t just count on it right now.

He played LG at Oregon too. Mentions it in today's interview. An article today says he's going to try and learn center as well.

So, we're down to the very last PS slot, yes?

My money is on a LB, and I'm hopeful that there's someone out there tonight who is still good enough that multiple teams are vying for his services. Then again, if not a LB, we've been told outright that they'll consider a 4th QB as another developmental asset.

Not to get too far ahead but MM mentioned Bass' strength in his presser yesterday. If he can learn how to snap the ball we might have an option at center with Biadasz becoming a free agent next year.

My OCD is kicking in. I’m not gonna sleep well until I know who is filling this last slot!!!
Best not to worry about it, might not get filled until they are done evaluating a bunch of other teams' cuts.
