Maybe, but it seems like you've gone to lengths to talk him down and minimize his accomplishments as well as his potential ceiling.

I don't see the reason for the pessimism.

That's not at all what happened. Someone said people overrate how Brown was. I said I thought he had a good rookie year and could be a good #2 type CB but likely not a true #1 elite level CB.

From there someone asked why I thought that and it has now spun into apparently me thinking the kid isn't very good.

I think it's funny that me calling him a good CB is somehow pessimistic because I don think he's going to be a dominant elite CB.

That's cool. But what it looks like is you going out of your way to minimize Brown, and the secondary overall. And your attempts to dismiss the stats presented to you showing what a good rookie season he had don't help that look.

I get that you hate Carroll with every fiber of your being, but Brown has played well.

I dismissed the only stat presented largely because it's PFF who is notoriously bizarre with their stuff. I mean people were ripping PFF a few weeks ago when they had our OL ranked 9th.

And for the record, I never said he didn't have a good rookie year nor have I really commented on the secondary overall other than the fact Carroll starting gives me the willies.

Again, he's a good player. Likely never an elite, shutdown corner. I struggle to see why that bothers some of you so much. If you turn a 6th round pick into a solid, good CB, that can start for a SB caliber team, I'd say that's a pretty big win in my book.

This doesn't look accurate. For example, Josh Gordon was suspended 10 games in 2014 and 16 games in 2015. That's already 26 for one player and Cleveland is not listed.

Also:

This comes down to playing with numbers. Why go back arbitrarily to 2000 or start at 2014? Because doing so captures certain numbers that fit whatever narrative the creator wants i.e. "Cowboys really don't have an issue" or "Cowboys really do have an issue."

If I'm looking at the topic of Cowboys and suspensions, I'm going to look at it with the context of how it's been under Garrett's watch. I'd like to see those numbers overall because 2014 to present haven't been good.

The "bother" comes from here:

"Likely never an elite, shutdown corner"

You don't know this to be true at all and for you to claim otherwise is wrong.

Nobody is claiming he will be, and likewise, you shouldn't claim he "likely never" will be either.

Good Point.

I think it's pretty clear that "likely never" isn't a statement of fact, it's an opinion. And I presented my case why I think it won't happen when someone asked me to give my reasons.

And for the record, I hope Brown goes on and becomes a Hall of Fame CB.

None of these numbers mean anything. Dallas has a GM that also happens to be the owner of the team and has no fear of being fired. That allowed him to take chances on troubled but talented players with the hope that they would work out. Many of them have not and that has resulted in very inflated numbers for the Cowboys. If you take out a few players that Jerry took chances on, Dallas would likely be near the bottom. It's not like they are drafting troubled players year after year. They took a shot on Gregory because he represented immense value in the 2nd round and they desperately needed pass rush. Same for Hardy. I don't see this as a big deal at all, in fact, I like have a GM that will take chances to make the team better.

He has made comments to the media, got kicked out of a game last season, is now suspended and talking too much on social media

It's not terrible yet, but it seems like he's trending in bad direction.

Wasn't it the Browns game he got tossed from?

I still feel this is vague, because Randy Gregory and McClain really skew those numbers. Both of them have multiple season suspensions and they have never really contributed. These two suspensions are kind of Moot from a team standpoint. Its not we been losing probowl players for 3 seasons. Sean Lee and Tyron Smith are not being suspended for 2 seasons.
