Don't worry too much the bad side of the hurricane is the east side and it isn't going to move inland y'all will be fine.

Good Luck man. I rode out Katrina and it was a *****.

A question: Do you live near the coast? I mean, within a few miles?

Pretty close mayb 10 miles

So you don't expect that the storm surge would make it to you?

Key was correct that you should get the west side of the storm, meaning you should have the wind blowing from shore out to sea. It is the east side that adds to the surge with onshore winds.

You should still see some storm surge, but with the eye staying offshore and you on the west side, it shouldn't be too much (I would guess).

If you are out of the way of the surge, then it is the wind you have to worry about and really, that boils down to the trees. We had several trees come down through our house (with us in it), and for us, that was the big problem.

The winds will have to get pretty bad for that to start happening though.

yeah, it's not so much the wind as the stuff in the wind.

If you go shopping for supplies, DO NOT forget the bug spray.

Also check out HardcoreWeather.com for up to the minute updates. They'll have the newest information 30 minutes before the Weather Channel does. Register and head into the tropical storm forum on that site.

I've got a few maps up here to watch. http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=190429

We were without electricity for almost a month around here, so unless you have a generator, get ready for some heat.

Unless the storm does something entirely unexpected, it really shouldn't be too bad for you though. You will get wind and some trees down, but I don't think it'll be a month for power to come back on.

Just take care of yourself and your family, buddy. If the winds do get really strong, get in a closet or bathroom away from windows and ride it out.

Good luck and God bless.
