It's no secret that Zeke has lost the explosion and playmaking ability he came into the league with in 2016. This by no means means he's a bad running back as he can still be productive, but Pollard has looked the better of the two backs for most of the year.

Zeke's contract for next year is too heavy to do anything with, but come the 2023 offseason, Zeke's dead cap shrinks to $11.8M which we could either entirely take the hit on in 2023 or designate him a June 1st cut and spread it out over two seasons.

I don't think any of us fully think that Zeke's full contract will run until he's 32 years old, but in this day and age, sinking money into the RB position just isn't a winning position.

Time to find a new bell cow ... or two bell cows to split the load. Plenty of them in the draft.

Yeah next year could easily be Zeke’s last in Dallas. He needs a 1500 yard season to stick.

Jerry will need to eat the base salary which is already guaranteed.

You really think Jerry is gonna tolerate all those workout tweets in the offseason so HE can pay Elliott to play elsewhere?

Next year is our year!! It always is.

Feature running back for 2022....Ezekiel Elliott.

Whoever doesn't hire his agent is a dummy.

I keep him and Pollard and tell the coaches to actually run the ball

He should not be on the team next year, IMO.

Cut him, take the hit, get it over with.

Draft a guy in the 2nd/3rd and with Pollard...we will be 10x's better on the ground and in the short passing game.

If the Cowboys win the SB this year and Elliott is the MVP.....then follows that with a 1500 yard 2022...

He is STILL not playing here under the current deal after then.

It was 4 years and 60 million fully guaranteed for all intents and purposes. We are in year three.

Elliotts superior talent carrying the ball was essential toward Garrett's ridiculously dated and offense and Jerry being proven right about his hand picked puppet.

Unfortunately because of things like boob grabbing, bogus allegations, tacos, clueless/selfish commissioners and agents.....we only got one real season of that.

One mistake compounds the next sometimes now doesn't it??

Luckily, Jerry couldn't afford to pay a RB again even if he was inclined to after Parsons' rookie deal is expired/wasted.

He better start thinking about replacing AT&T on the side of the building with '11.'

26 and already done. Always looks like he's running in mud. What a disastrous and obvious mistake.

Agreed, yes, correct, 100 %

At least one person in the thread understands the cap and contract implications.
  • 2022 salary fully guarantees on the 5th league day of 2021 (3/21/21) (injury guaranteed now)
Dallas isn't cutting Zeke unless he takes a Jaylon like nosedive in play quality. That hasn't come close to happening.

This is not exactly going out on a limb.

My guess is he takes a paycut to stay if Dallas still wants him.
:lmao:
right if hes cut or forced to take a pay cut in 2022, would be news .many are going to be gone in 2023. 2023 wil be known as new era, a new window for this team..

Pretty amazing how every single RB who got paid is underperforming. Part of that is the evolving game, but we need to treat these guys like oil filters, get 3-4 years out of them and move on.
