Danny, I still believe in you!!!!

I didn't drive any of three of those wagons (although I said a fair amount of Welker stuff just to annoy folks). Never was a huge fan of the way the Fasano/Ayodele trade went down, but I was always good with giving Bennett a chance on this team. I thought Brad was washed based on what I saw of him in the Preseason, but aside from some arguments about if he was any better than Chris Simms I didn't cause much a stank on it either way.

Go Danny!

A Premature Devaluation

Felix Jones -

With all the talk of McFadden... maybe thought of Felix and a distant 2nd place pick. Many hoped he could be just a little bit better than Julius.

Well... he is much better than Julius. He could go tit for tat against McFadden on some days. He was playing like a hight 1st round pick.

First run = Touchdown Felix Jones.... just wow!!

I know thatTANK was cut because of his legal problems --but was there a rub on him that he never played up to his potentialwith Chicago? Why did we think he would change

For all his amazing talent, I still don't think Bennett is a sure thing. He could go either way ... turn into a great, great player, or do the minimum and just get by.

Those of us who watched Amendola all four years at Texas Tech knew he was no Wes Welker. He has some of the same skills and is similar in size, but they're still two different players. Amendola could still find a place in this league.

Tank Johnson has been a disappointment. Wasn't it Coach Jones who was touting him all through training camp?

Oh, and TD, my only concern with Austin is his durability. Romo raved about the guy after Sunday night's game.

The biggest problem with Amendola on this team is that he has essentially the same skill set as Patrick Crayton. Both are limited athletically, but run good routes and have excellent hands. Neither is going to beat anyone deep, and is best suited for the slot receiver role. The only difference with the two is that Crayton has some size and Amendola does not-- which can be good or bad. Good in the sense that he might be harder to tackle (like Welker, yes) but also bad in that he's not going to fight off LBs for the ball.

Also, this is a vertical offense, which is a big reason why Miles Austin is a better fit for the slot receiver role than even Crayton. The Patriots traded for Welker because they knew they'd be running a lot of shotgun spread last season, and Welker ran a lot of effective short routes, screens, etc. We don't do that; that's not how this offense is built. Romo's chief check down is to Witten and then to Barber if everything breaks down. There's no room for a slot receiver there... which is why Austin makes for a better fit.

It is the nature of fans to seek instant satisfaction. At times we do it and we look extra foolish. Like we've had some premature evaluations.

Tonight on the radio show I brought up 3 things a vast majority of fans were saying in pre-season and...oops, a little too quick on the trigger there.

1. Danny Amendola was the next Wes Welker.

Okay, so not everyone was saying it, but my gosh every topic about a WR returned to this kid and how he ran precise routes and had great hands and could pat his head and run his belly at the same time. Maybe he can develop into an NFL Wide Receiver. He was anointed great before he ever put a skin on the wall. Something we are still waiting for.

2. Martellus Bennett was an idiot, we blew it by getting rid of Fasano, we should cut him right now.

Going to be real honest with you here. I never did watch the rest of Hard Knocks after people got stupid because of one episode that had very little to do with what this kid can do on a football field. I lost interest. How foolish do his critics look now?

3. Tank Johnson is going to be our starting NT and free up Ratliff to move to DE and Tank is going to be our defensive anchor.

Okay, I admit it openly. I was driving this bandwagon. I must have been loaded on Nyquil. I could not have been in my right mind. He's had spurts of the kind of play I expected, but my gosh, and anchor? Only if I meant he was going to drag us to the depths and drown us.

As a special bonus I would also like to add that many thought we didn't need a backup QB. Brad Johnson is fine. Did you see the Minnesota game in Pre-season? Gag a maggot on a gut wagon.

I know we'll fall into the same traps next year, and the next, and so on.

Don't they have pills to help with this now. Not that I'd know for certain, just asking.

Tank actually made a number of nice plays in the running game on Sunday night. As for Bennett, he was bashed mercilessly and rightly so. If he's finally "getting it," then good for him, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a rude, immature, insubordinate jerk in camp. Nor do I recall many fans insisting that a talented 2nd rounder be cut.

I bought the Tank evaluation. He played very well in Chicago (of course, he had a real beast manning the other DT spot) and I figured he'd be able to pick up where he left off. I would like to see him back next year for a reasonable contract. We are going to need at least two of the Johnson-Canty-Spears group to stay.

We may target NT in the Draft given we have 12 picks. I won't be shocked if he is brought back, and I won't be if he isn't.

I really hope they don't break him back. I'd be shocked if we did him and Ellis can go and Henry and James and Brown and Davis.

There are only 2 players on this team that I don't want back.

Johnson and Proctor.

Just because Martellus Bennett scored a couple of TD's doesn't make him any less of a d-head. Terrell Owens caught plenty of those in SF & PHI, and there's no arguing that he was one of those types. I hope he turns out to be great, purely because he's got a star on his helmet, but I'm not sold yet just cause he's scored.

I figured it to be from The Jackyl (I hope I spelled that right) with Bruce Willis where he's trying to site in that massive gun and he tells Jack Black that.

And great topic Hos. I agree whole heartedly.

Speaking of that guy I guess his nephew has been grounded from sportcenter or something because he hasn't been around, thankfully, lately to try and 'break' any news.
