Sunderland pulling off the impossible!

Barely surviving relegation is the impossible?

Chelsea really did a choke job as the season drew to an end. I don't think anyone would have predicted them earning only 1 point total in the 4 games against Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Sunderland and Norwich. Everton also blew their chances over the last several weeks to gain a champions league spot.

Still a week to go to decide it all. Will either Man City or Liverpool slip up over their remaining two games this week?

FFP is dumb, it's just like a way to keep the top historic teams with huge income up, so what if a rich dude wants to spend a lot of his own money making a team better? That's his prerogative

It also protects the teams. We had a guy bankrolled a small town team here in Scotland. Took them from the lowest league in the country to the top flight and a cup final qualifying for Europe. He then died of cancer and the team went bankrupt and now don't exist.

To an extent. City abuse the system, and throw an excess amount of money at everything. Something needs to be done about teams like that, because they ruin the game. Over the last five seasons, City has spent £200 mil more than any other team in the league. It's stupid, and ruins the integrity of the game.

But how is that worse than real? They throw more money around, but are allowed to because they are a global brand that has huge income, is that more fair?

Well, I can see that reasoning with smaller teams, not teams competing in major European tournaments

If the money disappears then the clubs are screwed regardless of whether they're a big club competing in Europe or a provincial club. Look at Leeds in England. They went from champions league semi finals to the third tier in England within a few years when the money dried up. The most successful club in Scotland went bankrupt and had to be reformed and are currently working there way up the divisions after having to start at the bottom. The same thing happened to AEK Athens, one of the traditional big 3 in Greece. Fiorentina, Torino and Parma are all back in the Italian top flight as reformed clubs after going bankrupt and starting again in the lower leagues.

As a side note I think the fact the punishment for breaking the FFP rules appears to be a fine makes a mockery of the whole thing.

LIverpool 3 Crystal Palace 3 A bit of a shocking result since Liverpool were up 3-0 at the 79th minute before Palace began their comeback. Suarez sets the EPL scoring mark. Man City was already in control of their destiny, but now have a little wiggle room and can settle for a draw in one of their two remaining games. Chelsea still not mathematically out of it, but the odds of City losing their 2 remaining games and Liverpool losing this weekend are very slim.

Bah. We need a miracle from Villa or West ham now. Plus we need to beat Newcastle. Can't believe they lost a 3 goal lead in the last 10 minutes of regulation.

Luckily I forgot about the game today. Oh well, great season for Liverpool. They'll only get better from here.

They definitely can get better if they fill a few of their holes, but professional soccer is a weird business. It fluctuates so quickly. What if Real Madrid swoop in and pay off the $70 million Euros it takes to get Suarez. Liverpool would change dramatically if that happens. And Gerrard is getting older, so age can start impacting his game. Especially after a summer of intense World Cup games. I find that I can't count on anything when it comes to top league soccer except change.

Gratz to ManCity.
Over the full course of the season they played the best ball.

LP isn't getting better IMHO but we shall see. Over a full summer anything can happen.

Time for me to focus on international soccer for the next 4 months.
Then I'll get back into whom is being added to Chelsea(Hopefully the Atletico pair).

World Cup is a month away.

The best sporting event in the world. I am world cup crazy and I plan on collecting some jerseys. First on my list is a France Pogba jersey.
