I'm curious if that will be true. Mourinho doesn't not seem to like Lukaku and can be very stubborn. He didn't like Mata and now he is gone. I can envision a scenario where Chelsea sell Lukaku and then go out and sign another young striker such as Falcao or the like.

http://www.clubcall.com/chelsea/top-strikers-make-mourinho-shortlist-1707165.html

There have been rumors of a major striker signing for 2 years.
Those turned into Ba and then Eto'o.

Chelsea is very unlikely to let Lukaku go anywhere.
They value young talent and have no need for the money he'd bring.

Lukaku also happens to be good friends with Hazard whom Chelsea want ot keep away from PSG.

Jose wants to humble Lukaku but he doesn't want to sale him.

After the World Cup as teams form for next season Lukaku will be back in the fold.
It is very unlikely he doesn't earn at least second striker status at that point given his rare combination of size/skill.

I think this summer we will see Chelsea get Cavani.

I remember reading all the stories about Cavani and Mourinho not being sold on Lukaku but I'm not real sure what to think of it. Seems odd to loan out a 20 year old with that talent and then sell him without seeing what he can do. Just ask United how that worked out with Pogba, they could really use him right now.

Mourinho just said FFP wouldn't allow for a Cavani signing. I should have made that clear in previous post. It wasn't my opinion but his statement.

Mourinho also say's Chelsea won't win the league this year as they are rebuilding towards a title charge next year. I doubt any of us believe that is his true opinion on their title hopes.

He said that and he was referring to the situation from last summer. At that time he still didn't fully know what he had or wanted at Chelsea. Now that he does he can deal witth the FFP by dealing away some of Chelsea's own players, which they would do if they truly did want a Cavani or Falcao. They could off load Torres and/or Lukaku.

Next man up: Diego Costa

http://www.caughtoffside.com/2014/0...-plus-striker-offer-for-la-liga-goal-machine/

He is better than Lukaku, but still weird they don't want to give him a shot.

i believe they will give lukaku a shot but that could absolutely be just wishful thinking.

the rest is just non-stop press.
i've seen twenty top strikers linked to chelsea in the past 18 months and they've added demba ba and samuel eto'o.

with FFP unless they can sell Torres (which is unlikely given his salary) they aren't moving on a top 10 striker.

If they want to, then they can make anything happen. FFP didn't stop ManU from signing Juan Mata. It didn't stop all the moves ManCity made last summer. Chelsea will probably move on from Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard at the end of the season and maybe even John Terry. They might sell off David Luis, which will give them some nice money in return. They have options. They can find another striker and pair him up with Lukaku or even move away from Lukaku. FFP isn't some impossible obstacle to overcome. Everything is fluid. What may have limited Chelsea last summer isn't going to stop them next summer. Situations change.

I heard something interesting on Sirius XM CH 94 on Wednesday. On Counter Attack, John Harkes was discussing Chelsea. He said according to his sources, that Roman Abramovich was the one calling all the shots at Chelsea. He was the one deciding who to move and even who to play. I found that a little unbelievable. While Abramovich does have a bit of Jerry Jones in him, I wouldn't think Mourhino would be okay with that kind of influence from the owner.

And if things occur with Costa for Torres; Lukaku could still be the 2nd striker here.

Boards have routinely controlled major signings for all clubs.
Jose controls his team and asks the board(RA is the board basically) for the latitude to make big moves.

The moves you are talking about are small potatoes stuff. Terry, Cole and others at end of career are not going to bring in a fortune.
That's exactly why Mata was sold. To haul in money that could be used to shape the roster.

Chelsea has the best midfield in the world. They have solid strikers, but they really have no means to acquire a rare special striker.
If they did they would have long since done so.
Jose likes Eto'o and has own with him. He also had Torres playing well prior to injury.
A lot of this is just chatter. As happens with any club that people can't shut up about.
Really no different than the Cowboys.

Whatever they do Chelsea are a powerhouse in no need of major signings as is.
They have incredible young talent at every level and a front-line Coach.
If I am being honest as is I think they are the 2nd best club in the world.

I'm a city and barça fan, needless to say tomorrow is gonna suck. I think city will be knocked out of the champions league this round, and I see them winning the league afterward, being able to focus solely on it. Hopefully kun is back soon, we should be getting fernandinho back tomorrow, so hopefully we can actually stay healthy for once and get a good run going in the league, specially on the road.

As for barça, I think we need a lucky draw to win it all, specifically Chelsea and bayern playing each other. I can see barça beating one of them, but not both. Any other team they SHOULD be able to beat. Ultimately, if I had to bet a lot of money on someone, I think Chelsea will win the champions league, they are solid enough defensively to beat bayern, barça, and anyone else that comes along. Hazard is the truth!!!

I hope Liverpool make the top 4, I'm a huge fan of luis Suarez so I cheer for them so long as it doesn't affect city.

Screw City, go Barca! I'd be a lot more worried about Bayern than Chelsea. I don't see any Premiership side taking the Champions League. Bayern, Madrid, Barca, or PSG.

I'm right there with you, Suarez/Sturridge are awesome!

Barcelona is such a pleasure to watch. Lets just hope Negredo doesn't use his size and steal a goal.

Jesus Demichelis is terrible! Although that should have been a foul outside of the box and not a PK. It was weird watching this game for me, since I'm a fan of both teams, I did find myself leaning towards city a little, but mostly because they started off playing so poorly I wanted it to be a close, great game. Hopefully they don't worry about the next leg too much since it's pretty much over and just focus on the FA and Barclays

Starting to hate City which is a good thing. lol
Nice to have a meaningful rivalry.

With Chelsea out of FA and MC likely out of the UCL it will be a hard fought battle to the end for the EPL title.

Liverpool is a bunch of dirty scousers. Have to wonder who the Cannibal is gonna bite next.
