A shame to see so many "glory" supporters on here. Chelsea fans for goodness sake. A club that had little to zero history before 2003.

I'm American so naturally im not going to root for a local club.

So for me I found a player or 2 that I liked when I first got into the sport.

The players I first started liking were Didier, Ronaldinho, Kaka, and Zlatan.

So basically I loved AC Milan first... Then I started watching the Prem. and I really liked watching Didier play.

When I was a Chelsea fan Man. U and Ronaldo were running the league.

So I didn't feel like I was glory supporting at the time with AC Milan and Chelsea. Looking back on it now I guess I was but screw it. Those are the 2 teams I like. AC and Chelsea.

I was 4 years old when we went 1-15 thank goodness.

My first Cowboys memory was losing to the Lions in the playoffs and hearing my dad be pissed about it.

Oh, the irony of an English Cowboys fan abhorring 'Glory' supporters.

Most US based fans had little choice but to select one of the 6 or so EPL clubs that were on TV (assuming they actually wanted to,. you know, watch them)here the past decade.
Chelsea and Liverpool had the youth tie-ins so drew US fans that way as well. Man U was the Glory club by far.

Now with a number of TV contracts they can follow German, La Liga or basically any EPL side.

Why would a fan choose a side based on history? That's rather silly. As a Cowboys fan I want them to win now, not 10 years ago. I was a fan then so got to experience it, but it has zero to do with my decision to follow them.

As to a lack of history, well Chelsea has embraced that goofiness.

Pretty sure ole Jack Cock would just say "bugger off".

Yeah.. Sums up how I feel. I posted the same thing before I read your post.

I had no idea of Chelseas history. I just liked Didier.

Same with AC Milan.. I loved watching Ronaldinho.. Had I became a fan of the sport a year earlier i'd most likely be a Barcelona fan lol..

Arsenal supporter here and enjoying the season. Feeling like a major acquisition will be needed to get this done, especially if Neymar goes to ManU. Hoping for Lacazette obviously, but somebody that can finish.

I don't know which is more surprising, Leicester from nowhere or Chelsea to oblivion.

I was going to point that out, too, but I'm just enjoying that Brits and Yankees can talk both forms of football from across the pond!

That's really cool.

To be fair I only got into the sport in 2008 so if I'm a gloryhunter I'm not very good at it. Don't see why someone on this side of the Atlantic should be tarred a gloryhunter for following Dallas more than any other non Texan

Drogba was my main reason as well. Dude is just so likable. And such an underdog on world stage playing in Africa.
Glad to see he may be back as an asst.

They really shouldn't..,. but they should, ya know; understand how hard it can be to follow teams across the pond unless they are massive clubs regardless of sport.

10 years ago you didn't get 10-15 EPL games a week in America. You got 3. So you had to basically follow a top 4 club or ALL you watched were terrible quality streams.
More Yanks now follow AVL, Sunderland and some others but they also have more viewing options.

Same as NFL being limited overseas for a very long time.

so... Jose to eMU, Pep to ManC, Simione to Chels?

The football gods have been unkind to Chelsea this season but we are a couple wins out of 8th place, alive in UCL and it is time to move forward.
Too bad we don't have Lukaku... not like even an American didn't realize he'd be a stud and the ideal 9 for us one day soon:(

Deadline day in soccer seems to be a tumbleweed zone. The lack of activity is startling!!!

Has soccer lost its money?

There was a thread on the Celtic forum I use about 10 biggest clubs in Britain, kind of descended into an argument about how much weight you put in history and how much you put in current riches. Anyway when I was having my say it reminded me of this thread in regards to Chelsea so thought I'd copy and paste:

Depends on how you look at it. In terms of history, fanbase, trophies etc probably something like
1 Man United
2 Liverpool
3 Celtic
4 Arsenal
5 Rangers
6 Leeds
7 Forest
8 Chelsea
9 Villa
10 Spurs
Preston I reckon have an argument to be in the bottom of there somewhere.

In terms of current attractiveness to players the top 6 is probably United, Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs and we'd probably be lucky to be in the top 25.

Forest and Leeds? Really? Forest had a decent spell in the late 70's and 80's but they are not one of the ten biggest clubs in Britain. I don't know if they have ever managed average attendances of more than 30k.

I'd probably put Sunderland and Newcastle ahead of Forest and Leeds based on history and attendances.

Forest won the European Cup (now called the Champions League twice). Were the best team in the World for a couple of seasons. Must count for something.

You won the PL last weekend with me as centre forward on FIFA is that counts for anything:)

I wanted a club to climb the table and promote with.
They signed me from America, lol and a trophy was their reward.

lol, my first football memory also involves my dad being pissed. couldn't find a video, but it was that 1992 end of the season game at Washington, where there was a fumble in the endzone late in the game...lots of swear words

Mine was watching Roger Staubach engineer a 4th quarter comeback versus the Commanders on MNF.
Closest I've come to Nirvana.
