Prescott had a very shaky 4th QTR

I wasn't goal post moving. just talking with you.

Can;t have a discussion on different things, eh? Fine. MUST be afraid to talk about it.

Telling on yourself?
I literally DID talk about it citing two playoff games which Dak either handed the defense a lead or a tie late in the game. In one case they held up and the other they didn't. The reason I am not about to research every game winning drive in attempt to decide if it was a good team or a bad team is simple.. It's a fool's errand. People who seek to discredit Dak have an automatic game reclassification mechanism which converts any game we win into a small game and any team we beat a bad team. Doesn't matter if that team ends up going to the Super Bowl a few weeks later (like Philly in 2022) .. when the Cowboys beat them on a game winning drive led by Dak they became a bad team. As soon as the horn sounded on that game they instantly became a good team again and went to the Super Bowl. Same with the Lions in 2023.. Dak leads the offense to 10 points in the last 7 minutes of the game to take the lead.. The defense ALMOST handed it back but Dan Campbell's shenanigans bailed them out. The Lions were in the NFC Championship game 5 or 6 weeks later.. but that night they were a bad team.. Why? Because the Cowboys beat them and Dak and his 345 yards passing and 2 TDs were a big reason why. So since Dak "fails every time" in those situations and the Cowboys "never beat good teams.".. then those two teams, despite both making deep playoff runs that season, clearly sucked..

Right?

Right?
Not right. I was just asking you...respectfully...about how Dak handles audibles and play call changes. You said "goal post moving".

It was not a challenge...just dudes talking.

I do not understand why some peopel think this is some sort of warfare. You have to have strict boundaries and we are here to WIN the battle and not be distracted by some dude bar talk.

I found one audible where he put his hands behind his back for RB to take a different play. Not sure how everyone else knew it was an audible. Hard to find much else about it.

I was respecting your knowledge and ability to comunicate but...not so sure about that now. Everything has to be a battle.

I was gonna make a new thread...but I was convinced it would be met with disdain and false allegations about Dak hate. Ya just can't win around here.

Same with the Lions in 2023. Dak leads the offense to 10 points in the last 7 minutes of the game to take the lead..
This is why your claim in your response to me giving Dak credit for getting it done in crunch time is flimsy.

The Detroit game doesn't hold up as an example. The lions took a 3 point lead with 12:21 remaining in the game. The Cowboys started their next possession with 12:18 remaining and scored to take the lead for good at 7:25. Hardly a crunch time situation. The 3 points they got later came off a drive that started on the Lions 29 after an interception.

I'm sure an example can be found to counter my admittedly hyperbolic claim of "every time" but I'm also sure a great many of the "1/3 of his wins have come by way of game winning drives" cited by you are more like the Detroit game.

In spite of the deflection to the two words of my post that you chose to focus on, my point that Dak chose caution in a situation that required success and that has been his m.o. all along, stands. It's who he is.

Dak did play poorly on the last poss of the carolina game.
every player did.
To get the ball on the 46 and go backwards , was real bad.

That is the time for them all to step and no one did. I include shotty in that too lol cause those were not good play calls.
The one thing I saw Dak do was on 2nd down, he threw to the guy in the middle who had a guy right on him and the guy on the inside right , was wide open as the db slipped.

Dak should have thrown to him but instead threw to the guy who had a guy on his back..
the next 2 plays he checks down and to check down it the wrong thing to do.

Fascinating that getting a lead at 7:25 is NOT a crunch time situation but being tied at 8:19 is. What's the difference? The Cowboys won against Detroit ipso facto there was no stress and they lost against Carolina so there was indeed stress. Clear as day..

Please explain when our D got the job done in crunch time?

On what planet is 12:18 of the 4th considered crunch time? In that case, unlike the Panthers case, you can reasonably expect to get the ball back given your defense had held the Lions to 13 points.

The difference is clear as day.

Crunch time is do or die, not anytime in the 4th quarter.

Let's be honest here, crunch time is every time we have the ball, because our D can not be trusted to make a single stop.

That is the madness to me.

If this forum made any sense at all, we would have a 100+ page thread about the defense, not a 40+ thread with the same group of idiots constantly bashing the QB.

Imagine if we simply had the 16th ranked defense in the league (middle of the pack), this team would likely have 1 loss, possibly none.

Instead we are running a 32nd ranked defense out there that probably couldn't stop a decent college offense.

Look friend, respectfully you can get glad in the same pants you got mad in. I provided counter factuals, it’s part of debating. No I am not going to thank Jerry and you would be hard pressed to find anyone who will. We will just have to agree to diisagree on the owner/gm. It sounds like we agree that on that the QB is not the problem with this team right now.
Think it's just being more of a hater, when you do that...

You literally can, it you it's OK to say Jerry thank you for giving us a prolific offense, and a great special teams group, and at the same time you can say if this was true that you hamstrung your new HC by forcing Matt Eberflu's on him and having a bad defensive coordinator, and not willing to make a change..
you can say both, both are true, you don't want to do it because you guys are haters, FYI jerry brought us three Super Bowls but oh no it's all Jimmy, lmao no you guys can't have it that way, jerry brought us three Super Bowls in 5 years..

You realize what that means right tom Landry in the old management literally underachieved, they should have had far more Super Bowls and they didn't, they only brought two in the same amount of time just because we're in a drought doesn't make Jerry any less of an owner, he still should get credit for the three Super Bowls, they were more than the other ownership group in the great Tom Landry,

they did it quicker and faster and they did it better.

That's the thing right now,

he has built this offense and kept it together he has added to it he has made the special teams very good, two thirds of his team is great, and he should get credit for it...

So it's OK to say both are true, He's been bad in a lot of areas but he also has some upside as a GM he is not the worst GM in football you can't be the worst GM in football and have a league still put you in so many primetime spots because you're still getting a lot of ratings you're still winning in the regular season and just recently they were in the playoffs three straight years and beat the Eagles in the division twice...

All you're saying is you're short sighted, you're stubborn and you're a hater, you're unwilling to give Jerry any credit even though he deserves it in some spots.

He deserves credit and he deserves criticism you're unwilling to do both You're one of those people that need to be right all the time and won't admit when you're wrong and give anybody credit even though they deserved it..

I agree that it's do or die whenever that happens.. It could be the middle of the third quarter if you are down three scores.. My point is that in a tie game with 8 minutes left there would have been no reason to operate in that mode. You may disagree and that's fine but like I said.. the defense had forced a 3 and out the previous Panthers possession.. So punting the ball back with 6 and a half minutes left should not have been the end of the world. But it was.

Yep. It's the "this is the last chance" drives that Dak fails on nearly every time.

It's the drives where you simply cannot fail, or turn it over because it will be a loss. You simply must score now or lose the game. Those are the drives Dak can't handle.

Dak has had much better than all those things you lament at points through his career and he did jack crap with them. We're talking top 5 defenses, playoff 1 & 2 seeds, league leading running game, league leading number of all-pros, and Dak hasn't converted any of that to playoff success.

But you idiots who don't know football just simply ignore all that and act like poor ol' Dak has always been given a bottom feeder roster.

So why didn't he fail on the two "score or lose" drives against the Giants? Or the ones against the Packers? And HE didn't fail in that situation against the Eagles.. CeeDee did.... Dak put the ball on him in places where if he catches it he either scores or sets us up in good position to win.. But somehow it goes down as "Dak failed?" You guys can't be this detached from reality to keep making these mindless "every time" claims when there is clear evidence THIS SEASON that it's not true. What am I missing?

Over the past 10 years, Dak has crapped the bed with good, average, and bad defenses.

He has a spotlight problem. The brighter it gets, the more he wilts.

You mean like ignoring the fact that the defensive rankings have always been inflated because when the offense has had a good running game the defense was always being protected by the offense possessing the ball.. Or when a team decided THEY were going to possess the ball and run it down our throats the defense was powerless to do anything about it and got exposed? Yeah why would we pay attention to any of that.. just look at the rankings.. Unless the rankings show Dak and the offense to be top 5.. THEN they have to be ignored and we need to "just watch the games." .. Does that about sum it up?

P.S. the Cowboys have never had the #1 rushing offense since Dak arrived in Dallas. They were #2 in 2016 and 2017 and no one will argue that Dak was good enough to reach championship heights in those years. But he is good enough now and has been for the last 5+ years. But Jerry keeps building these horribly flawed teams around him. Which is exactly what he did to Romo.. Leaving fans mad at Romo .. Which is just stoopid..

It does come down to a matter of opinion, I'll give you that. In this case we have the luxury of being able to study the results of that opinion which, like it or not, does favor one opinion over the other. I do find it fascinating that you argue both that a drive starting at 12:18 in the Lions game gets Dak credit for a crunch time game winner but this drive is not considered the same way. I struggle with the logic there.

I have to also point out that you play pretty fast and loose with the recounting of history. Such as giving Dak credit for scoring ten points in under 7 minutes in the Lions game when it actually began at 12:18, and then neglecting to mention that the last field goal drive started well in range of a field goal.

Then there is your statement that, "the defense forced a 3 and out on the previous possession". The reality is that the Panthers drive stalled as much because of the two penalties they incurred than because the defense suddenly clamped down.

Bottom line is, the Cowboys had the ball near mid-field with 8 minutes left in a tie game. The defense had been terrible both all season and throughout this game. The defense spitting the bit to give up a game winning final drive has been pretty consistent for years now. It is the most common excuse given to absolve Dak for the playoff losses, and many others. All that points to the likelihood of a now or never scenario.

Really not seeing how the Panthers self-destructing with penalties on the previous drive is near enough to counter all the other factors.
