    Underrated: CB Anthony Brown

As a sixth-round pick last season, he was impressive as a rookie corner, starting 10 games and showing the ability to be a long-term starter. He played both outside corner and in the slot last season, but he is expected to be a starter outside in 2017.

    Overrated: QB Dak Prescott

I think he's going to be a terrific quarterback. He loves it and he lives it and he has the makeup to be a star down the road. But he isn't there right now, yet you'd think he was by the reactions of the media around the country. It will be a lot tougher for him going through the league this time, now that there is a book on him. I still think he will be damn good, but right now the hype is out of control.

You have to love the "book on him" reason for why he isn't that good.
I remember hearing this after preseason last year..then again after a few games, then again after a few more...13 wins later we still have people talking about this fantasy "book" that they cling to when they start feeling insecure about how wrong they were about the guy.

Pete Prisco is President and CEO of the Dallas Cowboys haters club. In his weekly picks last year, I don't think he picked the Cowboys to win more than 4 or 5 games.

Prescott gets the attention just as much off the field as on. The guy is as charismatic as I've seen in a long time. But I don't think I would classify that as "hype".

Most articles I've read breaking down Prescott's game say there are still things he needs to work on to become a better player. And I agree with that. So I don't believe he is in fact overrated.

Prisco just does not understand the difference between his on field play and his off field presence.

The narrative is constant when it comes to Dak discussions. It's getting stale.

Watch, going into year 10, members of the media will say things like, "yeah, Dak has had an amazing 9 years in the league, but the NFL has a book on what he does now, so he will really be tested next season." Yawn.

You do have to admit that Dak-A-Mania has been running wild this offseason.

I don't know if "overrated" is a relative term, but the hype is pretty remarkable.
Just out of curiosity, what are you expecting from Dak in his 2017 season?

I ask because I honestly cannot fathom a step back on his part regardless if the opposition has memorized the book out on Dak. I could see a step back on the offense part as a whole as they figure things out and establish continuity on the OL, but what Dak did last year is essentially the same thing he did his senior year at Mississippi; he goes through his reads, he looks off coverage, and he throws to the open receiver. The game will essentially be the same as it was last year. Young quarterbacks that recently fell off, such as RGIII, did not go through reads like Dak was doing from the word "go" last year. There are certainly a plethora of things Dak can work on, but these small nuanced details are by no means reason enough to have a step back.

Granted, teams will absolutely be studying the Packers and Giants games from a year ago to try and duplicate what they did, but I'm not too worried about that for three reasons: 1. You absolutely have to have the dogs on defense to do what the Giants and (to a lesser extent) the Packers did, 2. You have to have the D-Coordinator savvy enough to know how to attack Dak and frustrate his process, and 3. The Cowboys will be studying those same tapes as well to ensure that brand of attack doesn't frustrate them again.

As a Dakistani (hattip @Trouty), even I can admit the hype has been high...but that hype is the result of one of the best rookie seasons for a quarterback in 100 years of football. So the hype is very much warranted.

lol Reminds of Galloway (I want to say it was him but it could have been Goose)...One year people were asking him why he picked every game against Dallas and he claimed he did not, He said he only picked the away games against Dallas until someone showed him that he was lying about it lol.

Brees and Brady have been around for over a decade, where's "the book" on them?

He is overrated. So what? It's more about what he is 2-3 years from now anyway.

Like I read yesterday, his stats might not be better this year, but I don't expect a drop-off by much if our oline and Zeke are as effective as last year. The biggest question for me will he continue to converrt those 3rd downs like he did the majority of last year.

Hype? What about all the hype lavished on Wentz last year? Even thruout the season when Dak was doing his thing, and Wentz was up and down, he still for the most part was given "well, if he had Dak's offense around him, yada, yada."

If Dak was the 2nd pick, like Wentz and did his thing, all the hype would be justified. But because he was a 4th rounder, people still can't get over that and won't admit they were wrong about his talent and leadership skills. Now it's too much hype for Dak.

He actually completemented him several times here.
Seems to think he's a special player, but that maybe many are getting ahead of themselves, time-wise.
NFL.com top 100 had him 14th overall player...at any position, for example.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to watching him play.
No butt hurt here
