Actually extending Dak cuts his cap hit
All that means is that his 2024 salary will be restructured and spread out across the duration of the new contract, which will average as much as his cap hit next year anyway. It's mostly a moot point.

obviously, it is market rate... people may not agree with it, but if you think he wasn't going to get the market rate, you are lying to yourself.
At least I know someone on this forum has a brain. IDK why that is so hard to understand. It's either sign him for market value or don't. And we could be the Commanders. Still trying to find a QB and drafting in the top 10 year after year. Or look at the Giants with Daniel Jones. I mean Russell Wilson is getting paid close to 50 million now. He has been trash since going to the Broncos.

Dak cap number already balloons to close to 60 million next year.

Jerry just has to be creative with the contract. If he could sign him to like a 5 year deal but structure it so we have an out after the 3rd year. Or we let him ride this year on the 1 year deal and hope Trey Lance is the next guy?

That's great news.

His cap hit will be around $25 million in 2024 rather than the near $60 million that is currently set and around $35 million in 2025.

And where does all that savings go? In 4 years it will be a massive hit and Dak with his no trade clause that Jerry is ok with will be in the driver seat again.
