if im dallas, i play him this year at his current contract with the new scheme and if it fails hes gone...no extension

Yeah in all seriousness this is a make or break year. Jerry parted ways with another "son," the same guy who was supposed to make Jerry look like a football savant.

Hes basically put all his faith in MM and Dak. If they don't perform the scapegoat at OC is gone.

Fair point. Flip side is Cooper Rush, a practice squad level quarterback went 4-1 with the same team as Prescott last season so it's not really saying much that Prescott can take the team to the play offs as so could Rush based on those 5 games last season.

In other words, let's draft a QB within the first 2-3 rounds

Such a one sided biased post I had to respond to provide a reality check.

You make statements to fit your narrative such as Stafford led the league in interceptions before winning the Superbowl...yes 17 interceptions but he also threw 41 touchdowns and almost 5000 yards - just minor details. Prescott threw 15 interceptions and 23 touchdowns and didn't even reach 3000 yards In 12 games last season.

You give examples of other quarterback situations that haven't worked out yet how about other examples where the Cowboy could have moved on from Prescott. Drafting Hurts in the 2nd round rather than Diggs or giving the Chargers our 1st round pick (Lamb) and Prescott to move up and bag Herbert on a rookie contract. I banging the drum to draft Hurts and many posters suggested the Herbert move.

Let's also judge Wilson after this season and Trey Lance was he has had an opportunity to start more than four games.

There was very little difference between the running game for both the 49ers and the Cowboys in the play off loss last season. Sure, the offensive line blocking could have been better but the reality is that it was good enough to win the game but Prescott was unable to execute. He was only sacked once in the game - this wasn't an Atalanta Falcond Adrian Clayborne type game. The Cowboys offense only put up 12 points. Just not good enough. Prescott missed key throws whether underthrown or inaccurate and you can blame the lack of weapons but the plays were there to be made but Prescott came up short.

Most teams that have struggled with changing quarterbacks have sinply been bad teams and the quality at quarterback wouldn't have elevated them to the Superbowl any way. On the flip side you don't mention teams that moved on from similar quarterbacks to Prescott like the Rams from Goff to Stafford = Superbowl ring, the Chiefs from Smith to Mahomes = Superbowl ring, the Eagles from Wentz post acl injury to Hurts = Superbowl appearance. I appreciate there's a risk but you either stick or twist. Have we not seen enough of this movie after 7 years to understand that Dak Prescott is not the quarterback to lead the Cowboys to a Superbowl ring? The

You kept stating Prescott is a top 10 QB when the majority of lists have him outside the top 10. At best he's a borderline top 10 QB along with the likes of Cousins and Carr.

Prescott doesn't win games on his own. As you mention it's a team game. The very same team Prescott went 8-4 with during the regular season, Cooper Rush a practice squad level QB went 4-1. The strong indication there is the Cowboys have a strong roster regardless of the QB.

The one point I do agree with you on is the importance of the offensive line. Josh Allen has largely played behind a trash offensive line his entire nfl career, Joe Burrow behind an even worse offensive line. Lawrence plays behind a largely bad o line whilst on the whole Prescott has played behind a very good offensive line over his 7 years. Ironically the Cowboys' offensive line was dreadful in 2020 but he only played a few games before injury and he had Zack Martin unlike Andy Dalton and he even had a higher winning % than Prescott that season with an even weaker o line. But I'm objective and appreciate the defense stepped up and played their part in those wins it wasn't Dalton playing amazing well but just driving the bus...similar to another QB when at his most effective...
Your patience and tolerance level in drafting this in order to explain it is commendable.
At some point it's gonna click for the ignorant crowd hopefully.
