I can't respond to each and every word you are saying here, it's just too scattered. Going overboard on some big rant based on (IMHO) some VERY minor observations.....is silly. I'll just leave it at that...except one thing:

"If indeed he is "suspect" at this why is the offense scoring 40 points a game? Pure dumb luck?"

There are MANY reasons for that. Dak being good is just one of them.

By the way.... "suspect" doesn't mean he sucks at it. People are so freagin sensitive jeeseus.

And in what context does it mean he's good at it? I stand by my assertion. The Cowboys offensive braintrust has made a decision that they want Dak to be more aggressive. Take more chances, anticipate, trust his receivers all that good stuff. The result have largely been spectacularly successful. But more aggressive comes with risk. To quote Bruce Arians "No risk it no biscuit!" Again I don't like seeing Dak throw more interceptions.. I much prefer the conservative version of Dak to this version.. But I can't argue with 40 ppg. The more aggressive approach is in preparation for higher leveraged games and situations when the running game might not be there or when the defense is not holding up. We can't have Dak out there playing like Cooper Rush all season and then ask him to convert to a different QB when we need him. We have to let him morph into that guy over time. Which means we gotta let him grow into it so as to be fully ready to be that guy when it matters most. I'll take the growing pains now if it means he can hang 40 on a playoff defense and we win a playoff game 41-38.

Nope.. never said his mechanics are equal to/among the best. I said his results are. In the end that's what matters. I don't care that it looks awkward or different at times. I care that the passes he throws are completed at the same rate (or better) for the same yards (or better) per attempt and TDs as people he is often adjudged to be inferior to. Because "the eye test." Man to hell with the eye test. If your eyes can't tell you that the offense is scoring 40 points a game since he came back then you need new eyes.

If all these things are "suspect" as you say then why does he have one of the highest completion percentages of all time.. and and one of the highest TD/INT ratios of all time adding up to one of the highest passer ratings of all time? How is he outperforming all these all time greats while apparently sucking at these basic components of the job? Must be the great coaching he's received in his career right? All hail the great tutelage of Jason Garrett and Kellen Moore for taking such a horribly flawed QB and turning him into such an efficient passer.

Does that look as ridiculous to you when you read it as it did when I typed it?

Game after game the TV folks are nice enough to provide us with replays showing Dak working through his progressions and getting to his third and fourth receiver.. If he's not reading the defense there what exactly IS he doing? We all watch him orchestrating the offense at the line getting the team into the best possible play as they go no huddle. If indeed he is "suspect" at this why is the offense scoring 40 points a game? Pure dumb luck?

So then would you agree that all those QBs who are apparently MORE adept at timing routes yet throw more interceptions than Dak and complete a lower percentage of their passes are ______? I'll let you fill in whatever word you want there.

The next step isn't about anything except being willing to do whatever it takes to win and knowing when to do it. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not more passing or more running .. It's more will to win. It's about non-acceptance of losing. It's about dragging the team out its doldrums instead of joining them there. Sometimes this team just needs Dak to take off and get 4 yards and run somebody over to light a fire under it. Get a first down instead of taking some 30 yard heave downfield on third down and punting. THAT is the next step I'm talking about. Stay patient.. quit trying to score in two plays... Move the ball down the field. Tell Moore to shove it if he sends in the double reverse on the goal line or that idiotic 5 wide formation he so loves down there scream "Kellen I'm not doing that I'm handing it to Zeke/TP" into the mic.

That's the next step I'm talking about. Take control and ownership of the offense.. and really the game. Play to the defense .. run the ball.. Be available to take a shot when called upon.. but with what he has supporting him there is rarely going to be a need to. He and Moore need to learn that.. That's when this team will be able to go really deep into the playoffs.. maybe even you know where. The talent is there top to bottom.. It just needs to be steered.. and Dak is the one in the driver seat.

I’ll never understand “Dak can’t read a defense.”

That’s one of my favorites that we hear on here. NFL QBs that can’t read a defense don’t play or are bottom feeders of every stat available.

Ronnie,

Why have I not seen a single thread from you highlighting any of Dak's bad throws like you did with Cooper Rush on a completed 4th down pass for a first down that wasn't perfect? You literally created an entire thread based around a 4th down completed pass from Rush because it wasn't a perfect throw.

Why aren't you fair?

I AM fair.. I have discussed and dissected Dak's bad throws in context ad nauseum. I don't need to start my own thread because there are 50 on this board before I wake up in the morning after a game. I was trying to balance out those 50 threads highlighting any bad throw Dak makes.. Well now the count is like 500-1 so I got a lot of catching up to do still. Baby steps. the only reason I pointed out that particular throw was that 20 people came on the next day and declared it WAS a "perfect pass that hit Brown in stride." The point of my post was that if Dak has made that exact same throw they would have spent 30 pages telling us "that's why we will never win anything with him because he never leads the receiver or hits them in stride." The same exact throw.. just change the QB and the narrative flips 180 degrees. I called out the hypocrisy of this group of idiots.. and it continues to this day.. which is why I continue to call you out on it.

There's not a single person here that would have taken the time to create an entire thread based around a completed 4th down pass for a 1st down from Dak like you did with Rush.

If I am wrong and this has happened in the past then by all means I am wrong, but I guarantee that no "Dak hater" has ever took the time to highlight a completed 4th down pass for a 1st down and tried to make it seem like a bad play.

You are only contributing to the hypocrisy that you speak about. You're not countering it. You're just doing the same things that you accuse others of doing.

If the Cowboys didn't pay him that money somebody else would have. That's the price for a starting QB in today's game. And Lamar Jackson is a stretch and if Dak has thrown the number of picks Josh Allen has this year this forum would explode.

People with an anti-Dak agenda dwell on his shortcomings and minimize his strengths because it fits the narrative. The Cowboys can win every game by 50 points and they would find a reason to dump on Dak.

Am I saying he's perfect? No. Am I saying he's elite? Heck no. But is he top ten? Yes. Is he good enough to win a Super Bowl? Yes. And that's all that matters. To fuss about everything else is a waste of time because he's the Cowboys' QB and that's not changing. Best get used to it, or if he's hated that much, find a new team to root for instead of suffering through all these wins he's getting.

Top 10? Dak is just another Geno Smith. I don't hear any Seahawks fans proclaiming him as a top-10 talent. Stop the homering man, his play and his performance when it matters don't lie.

Yeah it's fascinating that Dak can't read defenses but has one of the highest completion percentages and lowest INT rates all time. You would think that if defenses were constantly fooling him the opposite would be true. But these people just keep running it out there like it's some undeniable fact.

Geno is 100% a top 10 QB THIS year. Have you not been paying attention? Hawks fan have to be ecstatic with how well he's done.

Only difference is Dak has maintained that for a career and this is Geno's only year balling out.

That's YOU trying to turn the post into something you want it to be. At no time did I ever call it a bad play. It was a completed pass for a crucial first down which made it by definition a good play. The post was about hypocrisy. I know the hit dawg in you had to holla.. Too bad.. See a vet for that.

LOL.. yeah these people have the hardest time understanding that a guy can be having a great season and be among the best for THAT season. You have to do it over the course of several years to jump into that other conversation though. Lots of one-year wonders have come and gone in this league. Hell Hurts is having the best season of any QB in the league.. Does anybody think HE is the best QB in the league? Nope.. but he IS having the best season. Don't get why that's such a difficult distinction for so many to understand.

I just don't understand the "I don't like when others do it so I'm going to do it to because I think I'm proving a point" mentality.

It just makes no sense to me, but oh well.

Like I said two months ago.. that post proved my point beyond a shadow of a doubt. I thought it illuminated the agenda driven nature of some of these folks' posts quite nicely. It's not something I usually do.. but in this instance I am glad I did. The fact that you're still here harping on it two months later tells me it really struck a nerve..

For the record (it appears I haven;t been very clear {sigh})...I have no issue with the way Dak has been playing nor no real issue with some increased ints. I was a big fan of Romo...so obviously doesn't bother me too much.

I have also said recently I think the WR's...on occasion...could be more aggressive getting to the ball, and not let the DB/coverage waltz right into it.

Although I am certainly no expert, or very good in technical terminology (AKA by some as the dreaded "eye test")....I don;t think Dak is above reproach either.

If this is Dak's continuing journey..and he is morphing into a higher level player....more by command and control of the game rather than pure physical skill?.....I'm okay with it.

Totally agree. It's hypocrisy. The amount of weaponized crusading we have around here is at least equal to the very thing these people say they object to. Why would they want to do that? Despite Ron's satisfaction with his...experiment...it changed nothing, And in fact continued to cause feuding and division. Isn;t that what we're supposed to fight?

He needed to "shine the light" on something already blazing bright, by becoming what he claims to fight? Odd.

I think the great majority of critics never said "he can't read a defense". They said he has to get more consistent with it among a couple other things).

So we need to exaggerate so we can have an argument?

I think one person even cleverly said the "delta" was concerning to him/her. Really really good vs really bad (no ratio was given). I think that is very valid opinion. I neither agree nor disagree....for now.

Go read the game thread from Sunday night's game and count the number of "Dak can't read a defense to save his life.." posts you find and get back to me. I would do it myself but people tend to gloss over what they don't want to see and disregard that which they did not come to on their own.

I know thank God , he’s not Mahomes, I can only imagine how bad he would choke under the pressure Prescott gets

Youre here every week mostly every day. you see it dont you? thread after thread of stupidity. The front page is always littered with it. You cant come to this board and not see the vitrol.Try the game thread one week. these geniuses spaz out at an alarming rate then. And im not even a huge dak guy hes about 5th or 6th on my favorite list. Others that have him as their favorite player generally snap hard back.

This place is worse than the ranch and thats an accomplishment
