Pretty sure cowboy fans will be pleasantly surprised by this defense

Then you haven't been paying attention.

I'm thinking you guys may be right about the defense being pretty good but i'm also a sucker for training camp hype. I get fooled every single year by a position group. (last year was the Dline I was fooled by)

PPG needs to be low and turnovers has to drastically increase.

I'm loving the news about the DB's and the potential of finding a huge steal in Anthony Brown.

Hopefully the new DB coach makes a difference.

I'm not saying it will be good, but I can almost assure it won't be bottom 10.

As long as it's not in the bottom 10 of PPG and turnovers. I could care less about the yards.

I don't have high expectations for this defense at all...and even I don't expect bottom 10

There's a big difference between bottom 10 and top 10...obviously...we won't be bottom 10 and we need to be close to top 10...that's the gap

13 through 19 seems like a logical range IMO.

We could probably sneak into the top 10 just based on how they rank defenses but I doubt we would actually be a top 10 defense.

If we are a true top 10 defense then it will be because a couple of regular players evolved into playmakers that we didn't see coming.

Some of those crappy Mike Zimmer defenses that couldn't stop a nose bleed when it mattered finished #1 in the league so those rankings are garbage IMO.

Thornton might be the most important offseason addition. Teams had no problem running and throwing on us last year. If we can at least contain the run, that gives us a fighting chance.

I think people are underestimating how inept the pass rush is could be again this year. When was the last time a team of no names and rookies went from an anemic pass rush to a very good one? Rarely, if ever. I hope to be pleasantly surprised and Mayowa is that diamond in the rough and Tapper is that rare rookie that is an immediate pass rush specialist, etc.
I think Collins was a great pick too. That kid can play.

I'm excited to see what the line can do if Tyrone Crawford, Terrell McClain, Maliek Collins and Cedric Thornton can do when they're all available. I think it can be a huge improvement over last year, when they either weren't here, or were hurt.

If they can get and stay healthy, I think we should be in for significant improvement inside. It's the outside that still worries me.
What worries me more, is on 3rd and long and Marinelli calling prevent plays. That worries me. A LOT. How many of those were converted on us last season? 3 man rush extra DBs and still getting torched. Save the game against the Commanders when our Defense looked amazing.
