Prisco: Miles Overrated/Hatcher/Romo Underrated

In the past when doing my underrated-overrated column each summer, I tended to focus on the most overrated player.
This time, I am highlighting the league's most underrated player.
See, I can see the good in players.

So who's the most overrated player? It's not Tony Romo, if that's what you think. I might be in the minority, but I actually think Romo is underrated.

There, I said it.

Dallas Cowboys
Overrated: WR Miles Austin. In 2009, he looked like a future star. In the years since, that hasn't been the case. He didn't even get to 1,000 yards last season.
Underrated: DE Jason Hatcher. He has developed into a nice 3-4 end for the Cowboys. He isn't an explosive pass rusher, but he gets the job done.

Pretty much agree with him. Romo is clearly underrated, Austin is clearly overrated. I'm hoping that the rookie beats him out this year. But I doubt that will happen unless Miles gets hurt, which is a good chance.

66 catches, 943 yards, 14.3 ypc, 6 TD's. That's pretty productive for a #2 WR, especially in a system with a top TE like Witten. But the healthy part I agree with. Has he lived up to his 2009 production, or the contract that came after? No. And I've been frustrated with him as well, especially his not being able to find another gear on deep routes. But I don't don't hear people talking about him as being one of the top WR's in the game anymore.

Guess it depends on how you define a player's "rating" status. If you go by contract, then yes.

I seem to remember him making a heck of a play for a touchdown in the first Giants game last year that put the nail in the coffin for the win.

Miles is an asset to the Cowboys and I hope he stays on the team, hammies and all.

Experience always out does injuries...when Austin is on, he is on. With the new receiver coming in, maybe he can help to let Austin go a full season.
