More mindless Miles Austin bashing..

Oh, look who wrote the article. Yea, he didn't even get 1,000 yards, right Pete? Only 950.. as the team's third option in the passing game. What a loser..

through an injury ridden season he had 950 yards and 6 TDs...this guy is an idiot

I can't remember Miles making any game changing plays last year. I am trying to remember.
Are you trying to make a point?
I did qualify him having to be a #2 WR to not be overrated.
He did have > 940 yards receiving--which is more than probably 80% of the WR 2s out there.

Obviously Julio Jones topped him. After that, Eric Decker and Mike Williams and Lance Moore did too....I think that's it.
If Nicks and Jennings would have played full years, then Cruz and Cobb ould have topped him too.

The problem is that some still view him as a WR1...and that is the case then he's overrated.

I sure someone knows, how many teams, last year, had 2 one thousand yard receivers and one 900 yard receiver?

Hatcher is probably the most underrated on the team. When it comes to the Cowboys a lot of guys get too much hype and a lot of guys get the hype they deserve, but you rarely have a player as good as Hatcher that gets virtually no recognition.

He was turning into a top 5 3-4 DE for sure, but nobody seemed to notice.

I've been saying Hatcher is pretty good for a few years so don't put me in that pot.

I was merely stating that I couldn't remember a "game" changing play. I vaguely remember the big catch against the giants. You can point to a bunch of big game changing plays by Dez. So I guess my point is while he isn't a #1 WR he can still be a compliment as a #2 but he isn't the game breaker or game changer that he was hyped to be and I can see an argument made for him being overrated based on the game changer plays. Now I will say I'm disappointed that he hasn't been able to really take advantage of being the slot guy and beating the over matched safety or 3rd corner.

Way too good production for a second/third receiving option to be called overrated. If he just didn't have the frequent injuries, I wouldn't see a problem with his contract.

How was he "not" able to take advantage of that? Again, he was the THIRD OPTION in the passing game last year and he still had almost 1000 yards and 6 TD's.

What more do you people want? Is everything short of having 3 1500 yard receivers every season a disappointment to you now?

Seriously, the only reason he could possibly be considered overrated by anyone is because you're judging him based on his contract which is dumb, or because expectations are completely unrealistic.

he is over paid. He is NOT a #1 WR and is paid as one. So yes he is over rated

He's right about Hatchet and Romo.

He's only right about Miles if you are looking at him as a WR1. As a WR2 he's not at all overrated.

If Miles was good as advertised he'd be a WR1. He was passed by Dez because he wasn't.

The guy was a WR1 who lost his job yet is paid like a top 10 WR.

That's the very definition of overrated.

Let's hope this isa major bounce back year but he has to get the hammies under control. A speed WR that can't run full speed is pretty limited.

~1500 yards previous 2 seasons says Prisco is right on the money. 58 yards per game is pretty pedestrian.

Roddy White has ~2500 the past two season playing with Julio Jones and Tony Gonzales.

New England got over 900 from Brandon Lloyd.
1350 from Welker and 750 or so from Gronk who missed 5 games.

Miles is about Lloyd's level right now.

The real question is:
How many 6+ million dollar WRs last year didn't hit 1000 yards yer played in 13 or more games?

Or the real question might be how many 6+ million dollar receivers had two other guys on their two who had 1,000+ yards? At the end of the day you have to be realistic. There's only one football to go around. Miles could've played better last season. I wrote it off due to the hammy's. I didn't see a guy who looked like his former self. I saw a guy who had poor hammy's and simply didn't get as many chances because he's on a team with two 1,000 yard receivers.

And you guys keep talking about "he's paid like a #1"......54 year million at 6 years is paid like a #1? You guys are going to be surprised at what Dez Bryant gets then......

Overrated and overpaid is the same thing now? Because Romo is overpaid but does that mean he's overrated as well?

He's paid as a number 1.
so by that thinking he has to fail. no matter what he does he can't be the number one on this team and not the number two either. so by that think the second wr on this team should be a cheap player who is paid like the 3rd target on your team. which means you either have someone under thier rookie deal all the time, or some cheap vet who no one else wants as more than a 3rd wr on their team.
when healthy austin's production is very good, even last year when he was not healthy all the time i would be interested in seeing what second wr on any team did that was significantly better and our second wr is the 3rd target

You are right. Overrated is current perception. Anyone who thinks he is a #1 WR is overstating him. If they think of him as a #2, then he's not at all overrated, just overpaid.

I guess some could argue that when he got the contract, he was overrated. But that was in the past, not today.

austin's contract is designed to be very team friendly. the last year is 11 million of the total contract
