In general, Good teams are proactive. Bad teams are reactive. That doesn't mean any one move needs to be made or not made however

This is a small, forced, mini rebuild. Just because Jerry refuses to admit it doesn't mean it isn't happening. Think about it, we released two good players in Cooper and Lael. Why? Because they were not performing. They were not released because it makes us better right now.

IMO, this is the MM influence. He is not the best HC ever ever ever, but what he is, is a legit NFL HC. First one we've had since Tuna.

Followed along through the OP and saw your first mention of unintentional rebuild and thought it was a unique perspective where I can see some validity to this claim.
However you kinda lost me at the MM influencer portion as I have a lesser opinion of his coaching ability and team influence than you.

Other than that though, I'm on board with how you see this season as a some what unintentional throw away rebuild.

Knowing this front office....they think the Amari trade worked out....and can do it again...if they have too. Problem is...you don't have that player out there right now. There were rumblings for months that Amari might get traded...but if you look around the league....that player isn't out there right now...so IMO..this is a flawed strategy.

That is the saddest of the sad parts. They think the Amari trade worked out. It did not, and when people start screaming "Then who would you have taken?", the easy answer is: Deebo Samuel, Jeffrey Simmons, Noah Fant, Byron Murphy, Marquise Brown, Erik McCoy, Brian Burns, Chris Lindstrom, Rashan Gary, Terry McLaurin, Montez Sweat

Man, if it's not MM, who is it? Maybe he's not the best coach, but understands team building? Look at Marinelli. One of the best DL coaches in the game. However, absolutely horrible at picking players. Maybe MM is the same?

Yeah, not sure I'm just not an MM guy.

As for the explanation for the Coop/Collins releases I'm just guessing but here goes:

Jerry being Jerry is a possibility. The public statements concerning availability and last year's WR's running the wrong routes as to protect his golden boy image from public scrutiny. Along with Coops mention of targets. You know ya can't call Dak out publicly and expect to stay a Cowboy a la Beasley and all that.

As for Lael, I thought he had made Jerry's infamous inner circle of protected players list too. Remember as the whole UDFA signing went down and he had him over to his house along with the whole offensive line in order to convince him to sign with Dallas. Maybe all of Collins cumulative baggage finally prompted Jerry into a last chance stance so that when that whole urine tester bribe went down it was the final bad PR that Jerry just did not want to deal with anymore.

Jerry kinda gets a personal attachment to some players and if he feels they've wronged him he most likely will act.

Absolutely possible. Make no mistake, this is a mini rebuild, the only questions are, is it forced, and who is masterminding it? The right moves are being made, is it really all by accident? Man, I just don't know.

I still like your using the word unintentional. An unintentional rebuild but with hopefully good long term results. Accident or maybe luck is more appropriate.
Heck, if ya ask me this team lucked into Romo...lucked into Dak...lucked into Martin...lucked into Micah.

Might just be another twist of serious luck.

What's missing? What can go wrong? Have I played every situation out in my head that can keep me from reaching my goal? Where are the land mines?

Proactive relates to strategy and that must be developed with complete objectivity. Reactive is more tactics, what do I do now since this isn't working?

This all comes back to the one thing that keeps this team where it is and this is the only team like it. If the goal is not met, nothing happens to the GM. He actually makes more money regardless of the results and continues to get what he wants, more coverage than any two teams in the league.

Most likely those were both Cap moves made by Stephen not MM.

I’m just not sold MM is making personnel decisions . Instead he’s there to make the most of the groceries assembled.

Yep . When your an eternal optimist it’s difficult to plan for worse case scenarios .

Basically full steam ahead promoting and selling until it crashes . Then you go into damage control looking for scapegoats . It’s a vicious cycle .

And as you said , beyond the public scrutiny no accountability as the revenue train keeps rolling.

The sell is always how close they are and never will be how far away. The owner has an extraordinary fear of irrelevancy because he doesn't know how many more years he has in the spotlight.

And that's what drives him now, the feeling of being important and there are not many his age that can feel that. It's not the money or even the quest for a ring all his own, it is being important and relevant in his own mind.

Personally, I don't understand what made James Washington so great and why Dallas should be deathly scared of being short on WRs now.

Dude has broken 400 yards/season 1 year. 30 yards/week is what that comes down to and now Dallas is dire straights?

Michael Gallup is not going to be back until mid season, Halloween. That is the reason for the sudden panic.

I don’t think they have to make a move right at this moment. I just don’t want to see a repeat of 2018 when we waited until we had lost multiple games before taking action.

I think it has more to do with Jerry receiving some criticism for letting Amari Cooper go if Dallas brings in an expensive veteran wide receiver.

I believe the FO and coaches have faith in Brown even if I don’t. Gallup is looking at least week 3 best case scenario . The time is now to find out what we gave in camp
