I was listening to the fan and Drew Pearson said that the nfl dislikes jerry so much that they constantly change rules to take away advantages cowboys use . He gave these examples :

The emmitt smith helmet rule . Emmitt use to take off his helmet after scoring the nfl banded that .

Michael Irvin push off rule . The nfl starting cracking down on offensive PI after Irvin's success .They even took away a clean catch from Irvin in Super Bowl 30 vs Pittsburgh .

The hands to the face rule . Erik Williams use to dominate by any means necessary and they started this rule because of Erik .

The horse collar rule . Roy Williams used this effectively but the nfl changed the rules and banned it .

It's really interesting when you think all these rule changes came from us !

Did I miss any ...?

Personally, I think the NFL loves the Cowboys

They get the maximum amt of coverage without having to compete for a championship.

Stephen Jones is on the Competition Committee

Jerry is basically the head of NFL Network

And Jerry is the driving finisher of almost every major deal the NFL has made in the 10 years. CBA (Players and refs), Concussion litigation, etc.

WG, I think they like(d) the revenue we (used to) bring in, but I think I have to agree with the OP. It's something I suspected for some time.

Ya, the NFL is a business and money talks. Nobody brings in more money for the league than Dallas.

The others I'll give you, but this one was legit. I know the ref that called it, and he was a good one, and not too easily swayed. Besides, if you watch the SB 30 Highlight show, it catches Irvin on the sideline admitting to the ref that he went through the DB to get the ball, because if he hadn't, it would have been picked.

Add in the rule that Demarco Murray was the #1 example of what not to do.

The NFL loves the Cowboys. They wanted parity. The Cowboys hovering at .500 for years is exactly what they want.

Poor us, everyone's out to get us. Frankly, who cares about losers? Not trying to be mean here, but we've not won in so long, you don't go after people who do nothing. I agree with Woody'sgirl.

It is not proof the NFL hates the Cowboys. It is proof that everything surrounding the Cowboys is hyped and gets much more attention than it would for any other teams. All the things listed became big enough issues that required rules changes because they involved Cowboy players and the media hyped it up. It didn't hurt that they all were pretty blatant. Emmitt started taking his helmet off so you could see his face and he could get more $ from endorsements. The league didn't want that catching on and being a common thing every time a player made a good play. Irvin did push off a lot, EW did shove DL in the face on a regular basis, Barber did stiff arm to defenders face alot. Roy Williams was seriously hurting people by horse collaring them and bringing all his weight down on the back of their legs.

Although I think we get a disproportionate number of bad calls, I think these rule changes have more to do with Dallas' primetime TV visibility than hatred.

Even when Dallas is down, the networks want the Cowboys and their games are among the biggest draws.

Good points.

You would think this would lead to better calls on the field for us instead of the usual screw jobs we get.

This is a good point, and you're probably right.

While the rules you quoted that were stared by Cowboys players are fact but the Emmitt rule does not damage us or any other team (so Dez did it once big deal) in 2000 Roy Williams had 5 straight games where he injured QB only one by horse collar but after breaking T.O leg that was enough as you can see why. The push off rule is barley called on Wide outs, remember Dez first touchdown in San Diego - push off not called.

Jerry Jones is on I think 10 committee in the NFL you really think they would late someone they hate do that plus the NFl only cares about ratings and all of Dallas prime time games last year where ranked 1, 2 and 3 in total viewers. On the real I think we have an unfair advantage sometimes esp with JJ being on those committees I even wrote a post about how Jerry rigged our schedule last year. :
