I've got that problem solved as well... to satisfy that demographic, they can field the first all-gay roster.

illegal use of hands will take on a whole new meaning.

What were they called before they were called Commanders? 'Foreskins, probably. Let's go with Washington Foreskins, then. Out of respect for all their tradition.

They were the Boston Braves, then the Boston Commanders when they moved to Fenway. They kept the name Commanders when they moved to Washington.

The Bullets changed their name to Wizards, not sure why this is such a hard task for Commanders fans. The name is offensive.

I was really just trying to tie in the before-skins/'foreskins thing.

The Pittsburgh Steel Makers. Stealers denotes a bad connotation.
Maybe everyone should start calling you ****head. Maybe it offends you, but it doesn't offend us so who cares?

How about just "Skins"
Technically it does away with the slur, but nothing has to change.
Besides, plenty people refer to them as the skins already.
They could keep the logo, nothing wrong with an Native-American on the helmet (since there's no slur).

"The Washington Natives" is what I would choose...

Respectful, and true to the team's roots....

I don't know if this has been discussed on here, but the North Dakota "Fighting Sioux" were recently forced to change their name because of racist connotations?

Commanders.... Fighting Sioux.... which seems more offending?

The Napoleons.

i don't think it is in as much as the PC hype and hysteria targeting yet another name to make offensive so they can be upset about it.

washington fatboys - while i'm not only a member of that club but their leader, whatever.

we all have things that offend us in life but in my mind we need to simply grow thicker skin. i don't think the Commanders org is *trying* to be offensive, so why take it as such? do the seminoles now have to stop doing that stupid chant and tomahawk hand motion at games now cause it's offensive?

while i can understand your point, where does it end?

I've actually had this debate before.

I've always been fond of renaming them the Rainbow Warriors.

Warrior denotes a tough football mentality, and Rainbow pays homage to the district's proud DuPont Circle neighborhood.

Maybe something like this for the helmets:

:laugh2: that was funny
