ProSportsDaily.com: What team Will Eric Moulds sign with?

The article about trading a second for Moulds is crazy. If we're talking about that kind of cost, then spend it on some other need. I'm personally pleased with Crayton, Glenn (for another year or two) and Owens. Walker would be worth a second, but he wouldn't work here right now...you'd have three potential #1 receivers vying for the ball in a run offense. Wouldn't work. Draft a receiver early and try and develop him over the next two years. We should not even entertain the thought of Moulds unless he's cut and would sign cheap which won't happen.

We went through this with Peerless Price. Its not going to happen.

Moulds would be a 3rd receiver here. Where in most places he would be at LEAST a 2nd.

Not to mention that he is NOT as good as Keyshawn. I'd much rather us go after Javon Walker in a trade, that would at least get our offense settled for the future.

Henson - Jones - Witten - Walker/Crayton

Not to change the subject, but I think releasing Price last year was not smart. If BP didn't want to play him, should have just inactivated him last year.

Price would have been a FA this year and if he left us, we would get compensation (Comp draft pick) for him.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Agent: Moulds wants to play for Eagles

ORLANDO, Fla. - Eric Moulds has a wish list of five teams he'd like to play for, and guess who's at the tippy-top of it?

That's right. The Eagles.

"Every time I mention Philadelphia, Eric's ears perk up," said Greg Johnson, who represents the 32-year-old Bills wide receiver along with his partner, Harry Henderson. "He wants to go to Philadelphia. He really feels he could help them. He loves the idea of being an Eagle and playing with Donovan [McNabb]."

Moulds wants out of Buffalo, and the Bills, who will have to pay him $7.1 million in salary and bonuses this year if he's on the team, are only too happy to oblige him. They have put the word out that he can be had for a second-day pick in next month's draft.

But don't start visualizing him in an Eagles uniform quite yet.

Johnson said he talked to Eagles president Joe Banner last week. He said there is "some interest" in Moulds by the Eagles, which an organization source also acknowledged.

But as much as Moulds would love to catch passes from McNabb, he is not interested in doing it for free, or anything close to free.

According to a source from one of the five teams on Moulds' wish list, which also includes New Eng-land, Seattle, Kansas City and Denver, the wide receiver is looking for a contract similar to the one Isaac Bruce signed with the St. Louis Rams 2 weeks ago.

Bruce, who is a year older than Moulds, signed a 3-year, $15 million contract with the Rams on March 10. He had been released by the team a few days earlier, before the league agreed to a new labor extension with the players that significantly increased the salary cap.

Moulds has as much chance of getting a $5 million-a-year deal from the Eagles as Saddam Hussein does of getting an acquittal. Whether he'll get it from anyone else remains to be seen.

"Right now, the money aspect is out of whack," said one league general manager. "If he wants to get traded, he's going to have to come to grips that he's not going to get that. Or maybe he will. Maybe there's a team that's willing to pay him that."

One league source indicated that there may be - the Houston Texans. But the Texans won just two games last season, which isn't exactly a great place for a wideout with Super Bowl aspirations and a ticking biological clock to go.
Johnson confirmed that the Texans have expressed interest in Moulds.

"They're very interested," he said. "There are other teams in the mix as well. We're going to play it by ear. We'll see what happens."

Since catching 100 passes for 1,292 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2002, Moulds' pass-catching production has dropped off significantly. He has just 10 touchdown catches and has averaged only 77.6 catches per year the last three seasons, though the poor offensive talent around him, particularly at quarterback, has had more than a little to do with that.

Johnson said Moulds has spoken recently with McNabb. He said the two have been friends for 5 or 6 years.

"Eric would like nothing better than to play with Donovan," he said. "He said he was looking forward to going out to Arizona and training with him [if he's traded to the Eagles]."

Comparing Keyshawn and Moulds are like comparing apples and oranges. Key's value wasn't just in pass catching. Key was possibly the best blocker as a wide receiver in the league. Key probably was not the long ball threat Molds was. They are different players.

eeeee, I'd have to go with Hines Ward on that, but Keyshawn is close

Dallas does not need to add yet another WR in his 30's on this team. We have Crayton and Dallas is set at WR this season. If we are going to invest in yet another WR I would hope it would be a younger player who has a chance to be with the club for a while.

it was a story about a month ago I read over on ES

I don't got a link, sorry, but it makes sense cause I believe ya'll are gonna land up with Walker

Really wouldn't hurt to have Moulds. It just bolster up our Wide Receiver core just in case someone goes down.. we do need a back up plan..

Not if Dallas has to give up a draft choice to do so.

John McClain on 610 this morning said that Buffalo is asking for a fourth round pick. The texans are trying to work out a contract with Moulds.

This doesn't necessarily mean anything, but ....

He'll probably go to Cleveland or Washington.

There's some posters in this thread that are right on. The bottom line is:

a) Moulds numbers career are similar to KJ's. IMO KJ is the better player now- better at going over the middle, drops fewer balls, better blocker. Although Moulds is faster than Key he's no longer a serious deep threat.
b) No way Moulds would settle for being a #3 receiver which he would be here.
c) If you traded for him it would be worse than a team trading for Glover contract wise. Moulds salary for 2006 is scheduled to be 6m+ and 7m+ for 2007. No chance we'd be interested in that or anything close to that.
d) If he was released we still wouldn't be interested because of point b and because Moulds is supposedly looking for Tory Holt money which is way too much for him.

per Clayton blog:

Fit for Moulds: The interesting teams to follow on the Eric Moulds front are the Eagles, the Patriots and the Texans. The Bills have given Moulds permission to shop himself in a trade with hopes that he doesn't get good financial offers and wants to return for less money in Buffalo.

The Texans and the Patriots were checking around Friday to find out details of the Keyshawn Johnson's contract with the Panthers, which is $4 million a year for the first two years of the contract. Moulds is scheduled to make more than $6 million this year in base pay. Moulds might be able to come up with similar contract numbers. It would benefit the Bills to make sure Moulds doesn't go to the Patriots, their division rival.

I'll tell you all right now, this is NOT going to happen.

Eric Moulds and Drew did NOT get along in buffalo. Mostly because Moulds publically cale dout Drew in the media a few times when things weren't going well, despite a horrible OL and his own inconsistent games.

Also, Moulds thinks he is still an elite reciever and wants a BIG payday and #1 money. he has a hugely over inflated idea of his value at his age and with his declining skills. But he thinks he's worth elite money and Dallas certainly won't give it to him with all that money TO is getting.

So forget about vet mins or low contract... he doesn't like the QB, and isn't getting a big payday here..... not happening.

i hate people that can't spell Jason WITTEN
Hate's a strong word, but I don't know why so many people continue to misspell his name even though he's been here for three years, now.

A lot of people just don't give a whit about correct spelling.
