What's this "Playstation Plus" I've heard about?

From wikipedia:
PlayStation Plus is a paid PlayStation Network subscription service that was officially unveiled at E3 2010 by Jack Tretton, President and CEO of SCEA. Rumors of such service had been in speculation since Kaz Hirai's announcement at TGS 2009 of a possible paid service for PSN but with the current PSN service still available. Launched alongside PS3 firmware 3.40 and PSP firmware 6.30 on June 29, 2010, the paid-for subscription service provides users with enhanced services on the PlayStation Network, on top of the current PSN service which is still available with all of its features. These enhancements include the ability to have demos, game and system software updates download automatically to the PlayStation 3. Subscribers also get early or exclusive access to some betas, game demos, premium downloadable content and other PlayStation Store items as well as a free subscription to Qore. Users may choose to purchase either a one-year or a three-month subscription to PlayStation Plus.

Will still be able to play online for free.

For now.

Pretty soon, Sony will go pay-to-play.

And if they don't, they'll likely scale back the services on the free side so much that you'll be forced to go to a pay plan.

Actually, I take that back. It may not be soon but I can almost assure you it will happen with the next console.

Both M$ and Sony take a beating on console sales at release. With used games eating into their potential profits, they have to find money in other areas. M$ has it figured out. $60/year from the millions of people who pay it brings in a lot of money.

Have fun paying for online gaming?
Nothing good in life is free. AKA, Playstation Network.

You get in games faster, live never crashes, and more things to do on XBOX than PS3.

Have fun playing online! Oh wait....;)

Haven't used a CC on PSN for quite some time, the one i had on there has expired and i have never used the new # on there. Still not happy about someone potentially having my personal info but it could be a lot worse.
Not gonna buy anything on PSN with a CC again ever

negative it was like 4-5 and any one with gold membership got something free for that...what will playstation give you? a tighter security and shortly there after announcement that they will be moving to a pay to play type system to cover the cost of maintenance and to ensure an attack like this never happens again

Oh, you a fortune teller?

Console fanboys really grate on my nerves.

Let's face it. If someone wants your personal info, they are going to get it no matter what. There hasn't been a security system created yet that can foil the most determined/skilled of cyber criminals. This wont be the last time PSN is hacked, and you can bet XBL is going to get it as well at some point.
