PS3 Network

Yeah. It's a convienence for my son and I. We are both active gamers. He is more PSN Plus than Live at his age. He and his little friends connect more on PSN+ than anywhere else.

His age (10) most of his buds have PS3 more than 360.

I didn't think PSN Plus offered that much more than the regular PSN though. You can still talk and connect over the free version of PSN, and get messages and add friends, etc.. right? Or was that put only into the PSN Plus service now?

When I had a PS3 (yes I used to have it, hated it then sold it), I had PS Plus.

It's a program that you pay for in order to get free PSN games, themes, avatars.

Didn't like it. Still XBOX > PS3

PSN Plus may not offer much more now. I actually don't know what it offers. Some games and stuff from what I can tell.

Anyway, I think any additions to the online services of PSN will be primarily to the PSN Plus service.

Long story short, Sony needs to charge. Both companies do in order to make up some of the loss they incur when they sell a system shortly after launch.

Really, it doesn't matter to me. We're talking about like $5/month?

Really, $5?

I mean, I spent that much on a cheesy lunch today. Price isn't really an issue because $5/month is pretty much nothing.

Even for little kids, $5 is nothing.

True.

Sony does have to start charging for this. They need proper staff to run the network and consistently upgrade against threats and attacks. Not doing so is leaving themselves open to...

well this!!!!!

I cannot for the life of me understand why they wouldn't want a better online community than what they have. You need to charge for that. You don't have to kill the customer, but we all understand the need to pay to get a great online experience and I for one am always for it.

If I don't like it, I'll just not continue to subscribe.

I absolutely love the Xbox Live
