I agree with you, but like I said, I never gave them my credit card info, so all they have is my email address, mailing address and PS login.

Good for you. Glad you like PSN and have fun with it and it's frequent down times.

At least in their defense they don't usually have down times like this.

I won't be surprised, in the least, if you're forced to pay to play on PSN soon after this hack though.

Have fun paying for online gaming?

Yep. Sure do.

Had mine for a year now with ZERO down time. I've never got one and not been able to go right online and play. Never had the system hacked and ruined for a week or more like PSN is unfortunately going through right now.

So, yeah, the 60 dollars over a years time doesn't hurt my feelings at all.

Nothing good in life is free. AKA, Playstation Network.

You get in games faster, live never crashes, and more things to do on XBOX than PS3.

Have fun playing online! Oh wait....;)

lol.

Ouch. That was mean. Funny, but mean.

What gets me about the news that personal info was taken including potentially CC info is that they sat on it for how many days now?

Ugh.

I shoulda bought an Xbox.

Yep.

the Xbox live servers do go down...just for maintenance and updates

Yeah and even when thats happened it's never cut into my game playing time.

DIAF;3922470 said:
xbox live was mostly down for like 10 days back in fall of 2007.

Thats the counter argument? Well Live was down for 10 day nearly 4 years ago? Really?

lol.

negative it was like 4-5 and any one with gold membership got something free for that...what will playstation give you? a tighter security and shortly there after announcement that they will be moving to a pay to play type system to cover the cost of maintenance and to ensure an attack like this never happens again

I agree with you there. I believe PSN will go to pay for play pretty shortly as well.

Oh, you a fortune teller?

Console fanboys really grate on my nerves.

Let's face it. If someone wants your personal info, they are going to get it no matter what. There hasn't been a security system created yet that can foil the most determined/skilled of cyber criminals. This wont be the last time PSN is hacked, and you can bet XBL is going to get it as well at some point.

Too funny. :laugh2:

Always hilarious isn't it when someone makes a stupid comment at the start of their post, to try and seem cool when talking about someones opinion, and then turns around and ends their post doing the exact same thing.

Makes me laugh every time.

Anybody have any theories on how a company that just proved it couldn't keep credit card info safe is going to charge people to use their online network? That's a hard sell, I don't care how good you are. What, are they going to ask for cash only?

It's been mentioned a few times in this thread and the other one. I just don't see how they can successfully pull that off, at least not anytime soon.

Laugh all you want, but it's the truth. Too many service provider/processors/anyone holding customer personal info or account info have had security breaches with hackers making off with tons of personal data. PSN and XBL are huge targets and have in the past both weathered several attempts. It's only a matter of time before someone is successful.

The only people "talking cool about opinions" are the xbox fanboys posting in this thread. You may think xbox live is awesome and lolsony, but if I were you i'd remove your CCs from your accounts and start using pointcards.

You don't have to pay but I'd bet anything the disparity between features on the free side and the pay side grows so great that by the time the next gen console comes out, people will have little to no choice in the matter.

It looks like PP is trying to be more like XBox Live (although still doesn't have anywhere near the amount of features for almost an identical price) and the regular PSN that is free will remain how it used to be.

Ummm...how does XBox do it? Oh yeah, that's right, they do it without Credit Cards as well.

It's not difficult really.

No the stupid comment, and the acting cool (not surprised you didn't get this really) was you making a smart *** comment about him being able to read the future, your fortune teller comment, and then turned around in the EXACT SAME POST and did THE EXACT SAME THING with your fortune telling of Xbox eventually having this problem as well.

It wasn't about you liking Sony or not. If you do, good for you, I couldn't care less. It was you being a smart *** about his opinion, and calling him a fortune teller, and then turning around and doing the same thing after you got butt hurt cause some Xbox 'fanboy' prefers something over PSN.

How DARE he like something over PSN. lol!

And I don't have CC information on my Xbox account. Never have. Never will. That's just common sense, far as I'm concerned.

NORMAL people use Credit Cards.

People who don't QUALIFY for a credit card use ....

XBOX Live Cards you can buy at at Best Buy or GameStop. You can also use PSN cards the same way.

;)

Honestly, some of you are making this far more than it really is. Seriously? Fanboy between Sony PSN and XBoX Live?

Sony would even tell you in the dark alley that they aren't competing w/ Xbox Live at all. The PSN is terribly slow. CONSISTENTLY slow.

Ever watch a movie streamed from it? It ain't happenin until you get about 40% in the buffer then MAYBE you can stream.

PSN is pure BS and I pay for it and Xbox Live.

lmao!

I qualify for Credit Cards. I have very good credit. Thanks for asking.

I don't, however, put my credit card information on my XBox Live account and do anything with it. I pay cash for the live cards and do it that way.

No worry about my credit being jacked with that way.

Oh. Sorry man. You spend cash on a XBox live card that has a code on it. Go home, put in the code, bam. You have your live paid for and you don't have any credit card or address or personal information on your account that way.

Pretty simple and easy. I'm sure PSN has the same type of thing for their store stuff or whatever and would more than likely have the same type of thing for their online play if they went to a pay for play.

It's OK!!! That's all Im saying.

BTW: you aren't doing anything to protect yourself from identity theft if you aren't particle-cutting (secure shredding method) your bills and names/labels you toss into your trash.

That's the EASIEST way for me to grab your identity. ;)

Alot of normal people DON'T use credit cards on PSN or XBOX live actually.

Question though: You pay for both XBOX live and PSN Plus? Really?

Yeah. It's a convienence for my son and I. We are both active gamers. He is more PSN Plus than Live at his age. He and his little friends connect more on PSN+ than anywhere else.

His age (10) most of his buds have PS3 more than 360.

This is very, very, very true.

Good point.
