Hope - noun. a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
Wish - noun. a desire or hope for something to happen.
Pray - verb. to use prayer to request (that something may happen).

This is bad business. Just go out there and play like some crazed dogs. Make him look like he never wanted any part of our defense. I'm ready for our defense to make other QBs look shook out there. I can't wait for Sunday night. This will be a huge test for our team.

The scariest thing I’ve seen him do is move and scramble. I can see us over running the play etc. We have to hit him a lot to have a chance. The only problem with that is Trent Williams and company. Garrap had all day last year to throw

So you are saying that Purdy is a future league MVP and hall of famer?
I said no such thing. The priginal post dismisses Purdy because he is a 7th rd draft pick who is a rookie.

Warner was a rookie and in is rookie year took the Rams to a 13-3 record and a SB win. Anyone that dismisses purdy because of when he was drafted is a fool. He has played outstanding since the day he took over. I dont want to hear about the system or his coach. Ive watched him, and he does stuff no rookie does. His pocket awareness, his ability to run and get first downs, his ability to just toss it out of bounds and not lose yards..... unlike Dak running out of bounds when we needed the clock to keep moving.

I hope he sucks it up and throws 3 picks, but Im telling you this kid is legit. Trey Lance can pack his bags because he is never getting his job back next year.

when he scrambles, he s still looking down fields to make plays. The kid is good.

No idea how good he is or how good he will be, but I watched the game against the Seahawks last week and a couple of things stuck out.

1) He takes risks over the middle of the field. There were several passes that the Seahawks nearly intercepted. Hopefully we can get 1 or 4.

2) He uses his check downs to his backs very well. 2 of his TD's last week were on check downs to RB's. Have to be very leary of McCaffrey (duh).
Im no defensive coordinator, but just like you use a spy on a great running qb, a spy should always be used on McCafrey. He should never be able to come out of the backfield and be alone like last week.

Yeah, this is the puncher's chance the Cowboys have. That Purdy falls apart. If he doesn't, they will embarrass the Cowboys.
We can score on them... so more than a puncher's chance if we can out score them as well as take advantage of the QB position. I see that as a favorite as ESPN has us... plus vegas has a -3.5 line for SF which is actually a -.5 advantage for us... being the road team...

I will say the same thing as last week.......if it's a close game, we probably lose. A close game is playing right into Shanahan's hand.

The problem is Purdy hasn’t played like a seventh round rookie mainly because he has a terrific team around him. If Dak had the defense Purdy has he probably would’ve gone a lot further in the playoffs in 2016. With the team and defense the 49ers have they could probably win with a number of QBs. They’re a physical team with an excellent RB. If the Cowboys can’t stop McCafferty and Deebo, all Purdy will have to do is manage the game. If San Francisco jumps on us early they’ll take control. If the Cowboys want to have any chance of winning this game they need to jump on San Francisco early and make them play from behind. Put the game on Purdy’s shoulders and take him out of his comfort zone.

Start with sending 6 on obvious passing downs / situations and go from there.

I want this rookie to have less than 1 second to react

I misspoke .... 1998 was Warners rookie year, but first year he started.

IN any event Purdy can play..... that is not open for debate.
NFL rookie rulings are kind of funky. He was also not a rookie in 1998, he simply saw his first nfl action that year. The rule is you’re a rookie the very first time you sign an NFL contract.

Warner signed a futures deal with St. Louis in 1997, so that qualifies. However, he was on Green Bay’s preseason roster in 1995, but it was listed as a tryout. So did he get a contract for that? Favre said Warner was in QB meetings for 1-2 weeks. That part is a bit shady

Lance had a team around him and sucked, and would have sucked this year. Niners dont even make the playoffs if Lance plays this entire year.

Maybe so but the big move they made was the McCaffery signing which happened in Oct. After losing to KC, SF has not lost since.

A couple of big hits and pressure from Micah and friends could be his undoing.

When the Boys Dline is on they can be very very menacing and effective!

I might as well say here and now, me thinks the game will be won, cliche'est, in the trenches. Especially 77 v Bosa, keep that man neutralized. You don't want that man to get into Dak's head. That extra bump from the rb or te could mean a world of difference.

If Purdy and Dak have similar stats at the end of the game the Cowboys are easily losing by 2 TDs.

This is the game where Dak has to clearly outplay the other QB.
Can Schultz string 2 games together at the playoff level is the question .

He's getting around 10 targets per game. Too bad we can't get wrs the ball like that Js

Everybody knows Dak can't get Schultz out of his radar!!

Will that strategy work again this week?? Hmm

9er fan here.

I've watched all of Purdy's snaps (probably multiple times). I am shocked at how well he has played. I am a Jimmy fan but the niners were avging 23/24 pts/game with Jimmy. With Purdy they are around 33/34 I think.

Here are some things I noticed:

1. He is surprisingly athletic/mobile. His elusiveness reminds me a little of Russel Wilson (pre-broncos). Probably not as elusive as RW but some hints. When he scrambles he is looking downfield. Best example was last game against the Seahawks he juked 3 or 4 defenders and threw a dart to Aiyuk in the corner of the endzone. Unfortunately Aiyuk dropped it but I was amazed of his craftiness. He is also very situationally aware for a rook. He scrambled once and slid (very smooth baseball slide) while reaching the ball towards first down indicator to get the first down and avoid getting hit. He does an amazing job scrambling to buy time, stopping, and setting his feet before he throws. He does have a tendency to spin to his left when facing pressure from his blind side. Last few games defenses have caught on to that and timed that spin better.

2. He is pretty accurate. This is true in the pocket, on the run and under pressure. He has a baseball background l so he throws from different arm angles to avoid balls getting batted down. He seems most proficient in hitting crossing routes in stride and allowing the receivers to get some YAC. He does a great job finding his check down and letting his check down receivers (CMC, Kittle, Juice and Mitchell) make plays. I did notice some nervousness in the first half of the last game. The first ball he overthrew a wide open Deebo by 5 yards (at least). Not sure if it was the rain or nerves. He also tried to dart some short slants that got batted down by middle linebackers playing zone and watching his eyes. We are lucky those were not intercepted.

3. He is not afraid to get hit. He will stand in the pocket, extend plays and throw while expecting a hit. This scares me a little because we have used all our 9 lives with injuries at this position. He has been a little loose with the ball when he scrambles. He hasn't fumbled but sometimes I see him scramble and I yell "protect the ball!"

4. He lacks arm talent. There have been a couple plays where he throws it deep. The receiver still catches it because he is so wide open but has to slow down. Good plays that could've been touch downs. Not sure if he under threw it or just didn't have the arm strength to get it there. The deepest ball I seen him complete though was against the Commanders (to Kittle). I think it was around 45 yards from point of throw to catch. A lot of crossing routes have been wide open because they sent a deep post route. I am curious to see if a team will challenge him to throw the deep route and have their safety sit on the crossing receiver.

5. He has poise, a lot of confidence (swagger) and good command of the offense. He gets in and out of the huddle. I dont remember any delay of games. He directs receivers when they are out of position. He has led 2 minute drives in almost every game he has played. Even saw him get on Aiyuk when he quit on a route.
