The Cowboys have a ‘puncher’s chance.’

Get to Brock Purdy and force him into TOs. The Cowboys just made the GOAT look pedestrian - I dunno …. Seems like a short order to work Mr. Irrelevant. Just get to him. Purdy should fold like a lawn chair. Dallas can do it!

9er fan here.

I've watched all of Purdy's snaps (probably multiple times). I am shocked at how well he has played. I am a Jimmy fan but the niners were avging 23/24 pts/game with Jimmy. With Purdy they are around 33/34 I think.

Here are some things I noticed:

1. He is surprisingly athletic/mobile. His elusiveness reminds me a little of Russel Wilson (pre-broncos). Probably not as elusive as RW but some hints. When he scrambles he is looking downfield. Best example was last game against the Seahawks he juked 3 or 4 defenders and threw a dart to Aiyuk in the corner of the endzone. Unfortunately Aiyuk dropped it but I was amazed of his craftiness. He is also very situationally aware for a rook. He scrambled once and slid (very smooth baseball slide) while reaching the ball towards first down indicator to get the first down and avoid getting hit. He does an amazing job scrambling to buy time, stopping, and setting his feet before he throws. He does have a tendency to spin to his left when facing pressure from his blind side. Last few games defenses have caught on to that and timed that spin better.

2. He is pretty accurate. This is true in the pocket, on the run and under pressure. He has a baseball background l so he throws from different arm angles to avoid balls getting batted down. He seems most proficient in hitting crossing routes in stride and allowing the receivers to get some YAC. He does a great job finding his check down and letting his check down receivers (CMC, Kittle, Juice and Mitchell) make plays. I did notice some nervousness in the first half of the last game. The first ball he overthrew a wide open Deebo by 5 yards (at least). Not sure if it was the rain or nerves. He also tried to dart some short slants that got batted down by middle linebackers playing zone and watching his eyes. We are lucky those were not intercepted.

3. He is not afraid to get hit. He will stand in the pocket, extend plays and throw while expecting a hit. This scares me a little because we have used all our 9 lives with injuries at this position. He has been a little loose with the ball when he scrambles. He hasn't fumbled but sometimes I see him scramble and I yell "protect the ball!"

4. He lacks arm talent. There have been a couple plays where he throws it deep. The receiver still catches it because he is so wide open but has to slow down. Good plays that could've been touch downs. Not sure if he under threw it or just didn't have the arm strength to get it there. The deepest ball I seen him complete though was against the Commanders (to Kittle). I think it was around 45 yards from point of throw to catch. A lot of crossing routes have been wide open because they sent a deep post route. I am curious to see if a team will challenge him to throw the deep route and have their safety sit on the crossing receiver.

5. He has poise, a lot of confidence (swagger) and good command of the offense. He gets in and out of the huddle. I dont remember any delay of games. He directs receivers when they are out of position. He has led 2 minute drives in almost every game he has played. Even saw him get on Aiyuk when he quit on a route.
P-shaw! Punk kid with little experience. It’s all about the timing. Brock Purdy ain’t the the second coming of Jesus. Put heat on this rookie and I guarantee he will crap the bed.

Lance had a team around him and sucked, and would have sucked this year. Niners dont even make the playoffs if Lance plays this entire year.
Lance started the first two games when San Francisco wasn’t nearly as good a team. He went 1-1 before being injured. Jimmy G went 2-3 before he was injured. San Francisco was 3-4 with those two QBs. Either the team got better or Brock Purdy made them better.

I do not care how well he has played or anything else. You’re playing a 7th round rookie QB in the playoffs and we have to figure out how to make him unravel.

The key is going to be putting up points and getting them out of their run/pass balance. Make them more predictable.

Parsons has lived in QBs heads all season and I just can’t see our pass rush not making Purdy completely unravel at some point.

The key to this game is jumping out on them offensively and forcing Purdy to carry that offense. He will start to unravel and throw picks. It has to happen.
The problem is you arent playing a 7th round rookie. Your playing everyone else too. That oline is so good that he gets all do to throw and all he has to do is dump the ball off to the best playmakers in the NFL in Deebo and McCaffrey or his TE. They do the rest. He is also mobile and will pick up few first downs getting out of trouble.

And once they get a nice lead on you, then they get more aggressive with him when you get desperate.

This defense is like the 85 Bears defense. We will be behind 10-0 before we know it.

I don’t think comparing scores and schedules means anything at this point in the season. These one-off games boil down to one thing: execution. The team that executed the best will win…winning your match-ups and playing assignment-sound football.

Purdy is capable of beating the Cowboys…who have a history of making back-up QBs look like seasoned starters. Purdy has the OL, WRs and TE talent surrounding him so that he can be a game manager; he doesn’t have to be the guy. The Niners also have a great defense, so he will have numerous chances to direct his offense to a score. In fact, it seems like Dak benefitted from these same things when he was a rookie…and he did pretty good.

I’m just hoping for a competitive game…but I don’t think Dallas should discount Purdy…the coaches know what he does well and tailor the gameplan to his strengths. Dallas must put pressure on him and take him out of his comfort zone if they are going to win.

Not really. Lance went 0-1. Game 2 he got hurt in the 1st quarter. That is when Jimmy took over. So I credit Jimmy with winning week 2.

Jimmy went 7-3 before he got hurt. He was on a 4 game winning streak. He got hurt in the first quarter against the Dolphins. That is when Purdy took over, so I give him the credit for the win against the Dolphins.

Purdy has been undefeated (6-0 in regular season & 1-0 in wild card) ever since.

The team has gone undefeated with Jimmy and Purdy since week 8.

Niners Defense is not like 85 Bears. They have been vulnerable. Especially in the last month. Cowboys will have opportunities to score. Especially if Dak gets out of pocket extends plays, series and finds open playmakers down field.

Lance hasn’t looked great, but he’s only had four career starts. I’m only basing his play off highlights and his stats. I’m sure the 49ers are regretting everything they gave up to draft him. He hasn’t had enough opportunities to call him a bust just yet. However, there were many who thought the 49ers reached when they drafted him.

Maybe so but the big move they made was the McCaffery signing which happened in Oct. After losing to KC, SF has not lost since.
yea, that RB had a bigger impact than te QB?? bahahahhahahahhahahhahaahahha

A lot of teams improve as the season goes on. The Cowboys got better after Cooper Rush took over. Did we magically get better because of him? Lol Most teams have a tendency to step up once they lose their starting QB. We’ve seen it in the past with plenty of other teams.

When you can get close to 200 yards rushing out of your offense, it takes a little of the heat off a rookie QB. Stopping the run has been the Cowboys achilles heel for a while.
The good news is that this front 7 is very good when healthy and having LVE and Hankins in the middle. If they can put pressure, sack, hurry etc Purdy, he's not going to be as effective passing.
This is it, all or nothing on getting to the next level. They just simply need to piss-pound San Fran the same way they've shown they can.

But damn the 9ers are scary.
Safety play must be elite.

SF has had a weak schedule this season. Faced weak offenses and well as weak defenses.
This the same stuff ours fans said all year long...when we get to the playoffs we will face better teams...blah, blah...

Well it is more so for SF.
The best offenses they faced was KC, and they put up like 43 points. Miami, without Tua, or he was playing concussed still, can't remember, TB and they weren't even at full strength, as they were in our playoff game. Seattle, you really want to say they our a truly strong offense? LAC was the other offense, but they were down their 2 top WR.

Best defenses they faced. Seattle, not bad but not great, Rams, shell of themselves, KC, not all that great either, Saints possibly, Dolphins could be good at times, Washington possibly.

We played much better on both side, after all 3 teams and almost all 4 from the NFCE made the playoffs.
Raiders took em' to the table. Went into OT.
Stidham threw for over 350 yds. Adams had over 150 yds.
I watched the game, thinking, Ha! A good team can beat them.

yeah i'm not sure seattle has the speedrushers we do. moving around the pocket may be to our benefit honestly as things move quickly and improvisation leads to mistakes
Seattle’s pass rush was mediocre. Our pass rush should be much better!

It would be great if Sam Williams had a break out game. He has a ton of potential and haas made a few excellent plays this year.

If we can't handle their running game then it won't matter who their QB is. They are going to try to do what they did last year. Run it down our throats and when we finally put 8 in the box they will hit us with easy pitch and catch. Hope our DT's have their big boy pants on Sunday evening.
No reason why they would try any other game plan until we prove we are different than last year's team. We have to respond to their attempt to punch us in the mouth and do it right back to them.

I think the first thing is, if we win the toss, we must defer the kickoff. Try to get Micah Parsons in on him early and often.
