QB garbage time passing yardage 2025

Dak plays fine in the regular season ....... its the fact that he freezes up like a deer in the headlights in the playoffs for the first 2 and a half quarters that bothers me.

I thought it was just a stat that was designated for him only. When did the garbage time yards stat start counting?
This is a pretty good question. When did this become an official stat? Or is it an official stat? Because if it is an official stat then what are the official parameters of this stat?

I agree it’s likely factual but it is really only based on 1 parameter. If the author is suggesting a measure of garbage (padded) stats, I’m not sure using a 95% win rate as the only parameter to determine when garbage time begins is very useful.

I assume a 95% win rate threshold can be reached at any point in the game and therefore using the authors parameter, garbage time could begin at any point in the game as well. I’m not sure I agree if judging the meaningfulness of stats.
I took his inclusion of the <5%, >95% reference at face value. I'm not sure what else quantifiable could be used to define garbage time.

I agree that entire garbage time stat concept has little value. Like you said, it could begin any time. It also could fluctuate in and out of the defined parameter at any time. Potentially a team could play a chunk of time early in the fourth, in garbage time, but get a score that moved them just outside the % and finish the game technically not in garbage time as it is defined by the author.

Losing the context is a problem when looking at most all stats, but garbage time and point in time winning percentage might be a couple of the worst stats to try to make sense of.

I'd like to see how much, if any, garbage time Brady got credited for in the SB against the Falcons.

I completely agree…to me, the most logical definition of garbage time would be when you start substituting starters. Until the point where the criteria is met without requiring starters at full effort, I don’t think it should be considered for stat padding purposes.

I started to answer your question, then my wristwatch sarcasm meter pinged. Phew that was close.

Again with the sarcasm meter twitch. What in the holy...

really glad it's low voltage.
I was genuinely curious. Not to judge Brady, but just to see how that game relates to the way the numbers are being used here.

According to ESPN, and by the standards used here, Brady played pretty much the entire second half in garbage time. He would have looked like he was out there padding his stats against a bunch of backups on a graphic like the one here.

When clickbait became a thing, boomer.
So I’m assuming with the snarky comments I’m getting there is no official parameters to make this a stat.

I’m truly amazed at how defensive and snarky people can get over a discussion about anything related to Dak.

Cooper Rush played the same amount of games as loser Dak did last year.

You don't see him on this list.

He was 12th... and they outlined percentage of total. He was on par with most listed (21%). SMH... So confident... so wrong!
Ok 2 spots. 12th in half a season is so much better than 10th in half a season. Atleast you can hang your hat on that.

When your D gives up 30+ a game, you play a lot of garbage time.
They would probably give up less if the "monument to mediocrity" wasn't so prone to 3 and outs. I see your still trotting out the the "defense was bad so the QB has license to not show up." Nobody with a clue is buying that.

I was joking. It was meant to be more ironic but obviously it didn’t land right…my bad. I’m a boomer myself and that is the go to comment I get from my kids. Boomer has become code for not being all knowing like much of the younger generation.

As far as official parameters, there are none as far as I know. That’s why I felt the tweet was clickbait.

And believe me, it had nothing to do with Dak. I avoid those conversations like the plague.

When the D is bad, you can't run the ball, OLine is suspect and you have 1 WR - it must be the QB's fault.

You must get dizzy spinning thst much. Again what the defense does doesnt prevent the QB from showing up. 2023 he had 8 all pros around and crapped his pants as usual in the playoffs. By your logic he only needed 13 more all pros. I guess love blinds.

Just like it was Romo's fault losing to Denver 51-48 in OT because he threw an interception.
