Just curious on overall general fan reaction if the Cowboys were to do the unthinkable, by most fan standards, and actually draft a QB with the first pick.

1 Josh Rosen
2 Sam Darnold
3 Josh Allen
4 Lamar Jackson
5 Baker Mayfield

I'm not posting this concept with any actual personal agenda, I would rather go DL or OL, but that is not the premise of this post.

19 ... what do you do?

It would be the smartest move from this FO in a long time

When you look at it, Jackson and Mayfield will probably be there at 19, but franchise QB investment is always very unpredictable and volatile come day 1.

would never want Jackson with our first pick if it stays @19...love Mayfield, I think he is a winner, but he will go top 10...Darnold I just don't like, too raw and we have no reason to think that he would improve here...I do like Rosen (also see him gone in the top 10) and to a lesser degree, Allen, although, I also think allen is more of a late first to 2nd round guy in my mind - he is likely to go earlier in the first, but not in my mind

bottom line: if mayfield is gone as expected, there is no QB that I would want @ #19 - rosen is intriguing but that would cause too much controversy for the team...ain't gonna happen; my reaction to anyone but Mayfield would be "WHAT?"

Other than Darnold, it would be totally stupid. Those others are way overrated.
Besides, this roster is so weak...we have so many needs. I’d be upset at throwing away a first round pick on a QB. We’d still be years away. Improve the roster. Continue with Dak.

It would completely floor me.

It would indicate that someone interested in honest competition and winning football games had taken over the franchise.

And before this turns into an OMGMUSTDEFENDDAK thread, if this did by some miracle happen, it would be in the franchise's best interest. If he is good enough, he will win the job.

I wouldn’t be angry or upset that it happened. I would be very surprised.

If they do......... the guy better be able to play. Can’t afford to waste a first rounder on a QB bust. And there’s a lot of QB’s that go in round one, who end up sucking.

Grab Jackson. If he can't hang at QB we got a nice receiver to take over for DropDez.

surprised, but ok with it. I'd wonder how much of the decision was a guy dropped vs lack of confidence in current position.

I feel if Will McClay thought we needed the upgrade and had the player he thought would be a step up in the level - then they should do it.

"Stunned" would be too small a word. Even if one of the consensus top guys somehow tumbles into our range, I don't see them doing it. Remember they made no effort to trade up a couple of spots for Wentz because Jerry was convinced Romo would play another 4-5 years.

I think an optimistic but honest appraisal of Dak would at best yield a "maybe he's the guy" opinion...but I have no doubt Jerry has convinced himself Dak is a sure-thing Pro Bowler the same way he convinced himself Tony was still in his prime.

Probably all academic, as I don't see any of those guys dropping far enough for us to grab and I'm not sure any of them are in the Wentz or Luck level that'd make them worth packaging assets for a big trade up.

Too logical. The is no future for you here.

0% chance unless Jerry has just told Jason that there is no result he could have that would cost him his job.

You would think Jason knows another bad year and he is out and you don't draft a rookie QB when you're coaching for your job.

And if Dak beats him out and he shows any promise, QBs are easy to get a return on your investment.
