I would trade Henson and try and get a third rounder for him if Cutler is on the board. I think passing on him would be a huge mistake. He needs 2 years of grooming and he would be ready to go. Perfect fit for us and Bledsoe.
I'll take your word on it CC as I have not seem him play. Stupid question time here. Is he a senior? Is there a bowl game coming up I can see him play. Thanks!

Yes and no.

Yes he is a senior and no they are not in a Bowl. He is 6-4 and 230 lbs and has a pure rocket launcher of an arm.

What the hell is wrong with our recievers? Sure our 2 best ones are older but they are still good and get the job done. Key and Glenn combined have 1800 yards 13 touchdowns 126 catches. That sounds like a good tandem to me. They both have good hands and drops come few and far between. Key provides the big inside possesion WR target and Glenn is a good deep threat because he is smart and always thinking on the field. Patrick Crayton is on the rise along as he stays healthy and will slowly take over the number 1 or 2 WR job next season.

QB Jay Cutler :D, if we are going for a Quarterback I think thats the one we want.

I'd pick Cutler as well. Bledsoe has one good year left in him and we do need to retool the offense. There will be no depth in the FA WR pool and the draft pool will be just as thin if Santonio Holmes doesn't come out. Linebackers are our least concern. A free safety is a need but not a glaring one. Our offensive line, WR, and a QB are the three big ones.

I love what Bledsoe is doing, and I'm a huge Henson fan, and I like ROmo alot

but...

I hear the talk about trading a pick for Phillip Rivers, trading up to acquire Leinart, taking Jay Cutler with our 1st round pick etc. etc.

now, what I haven't seen suggested at all, is Jax QB David Garrard, so, how do you guys feel about him? he's 3-1 as a starter since taking over for Leftwich this year, and is playing pretty well, just a thought...

disclaimer: again, I love what Bledsoe is doing, and he should play out his contract, I'm a huge Henson fan, and I like Romo

Bledsoe will sign a 2 year extension this off-season and will be the Cowboys QB through 2008...

Next topic!

With BP going into the last year of his contract (assuming he doesn't sign an extension) I don't see any way we trade for or draft a QB early.

Romo and Henson need a address in Europe this spring.

You are right. BP will NOT be using a first day pick on a QB. He needs help at OT, LB, FS and WR and he's not building this team for Jimmy Johnson or whoever takes over after him. The man wants to win now and I'll bet he's very happy with what Bledsoe has given him and I know he likes Romo. Those people coveting Cutler are wasting their drool. Ain't happening.

I believe we will draft a QB but it will be a late pick, perhaps one of our 2 6th rounders (Tom Brady II?) to have someone to compete with Henson. If Henson doesn't step up in TC, he's history.
And I agree both our backup guys could benefit from NFLE.

Garrard Is an overrated backup, as in, every year, you hear somehow he outplayed or performed better in TC than Leftwitch. But as soon as he hits the Playing field on Sundays when the games count, he is a barely average QB. I just would love to know who the heck are these idiot scouts who think he had better TC than Leftwhich.

He is what he is, a good backup to have, probably a Quincy Carter without the head case issues or drug issues. Thats why he didn't get even a decent offer when he was FA this year I believe or from what I read. And thats why he signed with Jax in offseason.

Garrard is a better player than you give him credit for. He was groomed to take over for the dispensable Brunell before they took Leftwich with their high draft pick (not a bad idea). But to Garrard's credit, he has big play potential. Compared to first round draft picks this year, he doesn't quite measure up. But we're not going to get a first rounder this year. He's more established than all of the aforementioned back-ups named here. I think he would be a good pick up. Nobody traded for him last offseason because no one knew how he would play and the Jaguars wanted too much for an unknown. Now he has shown he can win games. I don't think Dallas will pull the trigger though.

Rivers may be the only shot at getting a 1st rounder type qb in the next year or 2, but I don't think he's the QB of the future here or anywhere.

I'd put all my eggs in the offensive line basket this offseason. This team has depth at RB, and a very good pocket passer who can play near the top of his game for a year or two. The defense is gelling. Not sure what the free agency situation is, but the missing link to a VERY good team(SB caliber) is depth and experience at OL(and a little more experiece for the Defense. I'd trade a good pick or 2 for a solid OL veteran and perhaps draft for a speedster receiver in the middle rounds to help Glenn stretch the field. Other than that, I'd go "best available athlete."

In 2007, I'd plan on pulling a ditka-esque (sell your soul for Ricky Williams) deal to get Brady Quinn. He is the successor to Drew Bledsoe in 2008 or so.

That would be suicide to give up all of your draft picks for one guy. Quinn has only had one good year anyway.

More like an address in the AFL.

Typically WRs take a year or two to "get it" transitioning from college to the pros. I think this would be an excellent year to grab a potential #1 WR who would be all set to go when Glenn and Key are done.

Crayton will be a solid #2 at best, which ain't bad at all for a 7th round investment.

Outside of that not sure we make any moves at all.

BP loves Drew and Jerry has grown pretty fond of him as well noting his play is we have been so improved over last year.

Henson and Romo have enough potential that QB is way down the list for draft needs.

We need OL, LB, FS, WR.

I think you have it pegged.

He wasn't a FA. He signed an extension with the Jags last year anyway.

I mentioned him last year as a possibility. Don't see it now.

i was also under the impression that Garrard was going nowhere, so that is a moot point. jags wanted way too much and it was clear to me he would stay there.

No--I am not convinced he can consistantly read defenses......stick to Rivers or Brees.....which ever one the Chargers give up on!

Jay Cutler is the pick if he's still there when we pick.

I live in Nashville and have seen Cutler play several times. The guy is a star waiting to happen. I had high hopes for Henson and I think Romo will be a good back up. But I would cut the ties with Henson at this point and go with a known quantity. Cutler is the guy.

hey cajun i live about 1 hour southeast of you.i'm in cannon.i also agree with cutting ties with henson.if he's not getting playing time then we need to bring in a quarterback that can get us were we need to be once bledsoe is gone.i also wouldn't mind getting rivers from the chargers.
