QB thought

He wasn't a FA. He signed an extension with the Jags last year anyway.

I mentioned him last year as a possibility. Don't see it now.

Actually, I was wrong, in what I read that no one as a taker for David Garrard in offseason, and so signed an extension with Jags.

But according to the article, its because Jags were asking for 1st rounder in return, which caused teams to back away.

I don't if Jay Feely was given a 2nd rounder, I would think if Garrard was worth it, he would have been given a 1st rounder in return.

I have seen few games Garrard played and came away unimpressed, especially for the hype he gets. A good Backup QB? Sure. A good Starting QB caliber? Heck no way. Will he develop in future? Maybe, but ain't no way he is worth a 1st rounder.

I think there could be 5 QB's taken in first round -Leinart, Young, Cutler, possibly the Clemson and Bowling Green QB's, Whitehurst and Jacobs.

Yeah, just draft a REAL QB for God's sake- not a 5th rounder in the 2nd, a baseball washout, or a six game wonder from college.

No--I am not convinced he can consistantly read defenses......stick to Rivers or Brees.....which ever one the Chargers give up on!
I just have to ask this question but why are you not convined he can consistently read defenses? have you seen him play alot or is there another reason for this statement?

I would trade Henson and try and get a third rounder for him if Cutler is on the board. I think passing on him would be a huge mistake. He needs 2 years of grooming and he would be ready to go. Perfect fit for us and Bledsoe.

...we won't get much more than a fifth or sixth for Henson. If so, I would take it.

I agree that we draft a young QB asap and let him sit behind Bledsoe and Romo for two years before making his big push in TC for the starter's job.

I believe we will be drafting for our next QB along with youth on the o-line and FS this year. Next year it will be WRs and SS and d-line as I believe Roy Williams skills will begin to diminish in three years. The next two years may be our best chances at a SuperBowl year.

As long as Jerry keeps his eye on the ball and avoids his drafting patterns of 1998-2002 we should be able to retool this team on a regular basis and compete.

I won't argue with that. I would have considered a second. He probably wasn't worth a second.

If Quincy and Feeley were worth seconds, then I guess Garrard should be. :lmao2:

Omar Jacobs is a JR, isn't he?

With his injury, he would be better served to come back next season to improve his stock.

I think he stays in school.

I love what Bledsoe is doing, and I'm a huge Henson fan, and I like ROmo alot

but...

I hear the talk about trading a pick for Phillip Rivers, trading up to acquire Leinart, taking Jay Cutler with our 1st round pick etc. etc.

now, what I haven't seen suggested at all, is Jax QB David Garrard, so, how do you guys feel about him? he's 3-1 as a starter since taking over for Leftwich this year, and is playing pretty well, just a thought...

disclaimer: again, I love what Bledsoe is doing, and he should play out his contract, I'm a huge Henson fan, and I like Romo

How can one be a "huge Henson fan?" Because he's done what...? Based on...?

I'll take your word on it CC as I have not seem him play. Stupid question time here. Is he a senior? Is there a bowl game coming up I can see him play. Thanks!

Cutler will play in the Senior Bowl.

You can bet that EVERY SINGLE NFL SCOUT will have their eyes glued on Cutler that day.

Ain't that the truth.

If Whitehurst (Clemson) goes in the first round, that team should forfeit the right to the rest of their picks for the 2006 and 2007 drafts, because they obviously don't know how to use them.

Not even the Commanders would take him in the first round. WAAAAAY overrated. Just cuz he's big doesn't mean he is good.

Uh, by watching him in college. By watching him in preseason in Dallas. And probably just by the fact that he is a Cowboys player.

Why wouldn't a Cowboys fan want Henson to do well?

Never understood that at all, but it seems like half the board is rooting for him to fail.

Garrard is 10 times better than QC (Quit Crack) and (touchy) Feely.

and has loads of potential

Whitehurst would make a great 3rd round pick
