QB vs. System?

I knew a silly thread like this was coming soon. The texans won 16-10 against the Matt Hasselbeck led Colts. That is more of the Texans defense and bad offense by the Colts than anything Weeden did. I knew this topic was going to happen as soon as Weeden won a game. And please get out of here trying to stand up for Weeden now. All I saw on this board when Weeden was a Cowboy was how he sucked and how quickly you want Cassel to start and wanted Weeden to be cut. Now it's an indictment on our coaching staff? Please. Weeden still stinks his defense help him out just enough today. You people are unbelievable.

But Hasselback has won games with the Colts..

Weeden's TD, if I remember correctly, was on a drag route..

So Weeden made a few passes, but he threw a TD in the red-zone.. We like to kick field goals..

OK what does that have to do with Weeden. I mentioned the Texans defense/inept Colts offense as a big reason why the Texans won. Hasselback has also lost some and he and the Colts have looked bad the previous 2 games before this one.

We lost to some inept teams...so.......

Lets see what he does if he has to start next week. We all know that he can come in for relief and perform.....or save the game.

Believe me, I want to be the first to bring the pitchforks to the coaches :)

Are you people serious? Weeden is in a place where he is not in the spot light and there is no pressure there in Houston. Kellen Moore knows the offense period, because the offense is Scott Linehans mixed with Jason Garrett's and Romo's input. So Scott only needed to call plays from his part of the offense and Moore has that down pat. He did good, I believe the backup QB is no longer a priority now.
This Offense is so geared to Romo that it is hard for another QB to run it with a lot of success, Moore has something to him.
Weeden's success today does not mean our coaching staff is bad or that the texans is better/. I have heard Garrett many times thru out these past 5 yrs take blame when he needs to take the blame and sometimes when he does not. So all the people that says he does not is lying

That is the key distinction. When they come in mid-game there is no pressure, it is just come and do your best. The other team is usually unaware of your strengths and weaknesses.

Given notice a team can game plan and also the pressure builds all week.

Weeden did OK a couple times for us in relief, he was just terrible as a starter.

So Weeden. leads the Texans to win today after only a few weeks in the system but neither him nor cassel can help our team to win at all?? Does that make our problem bad backup quarterbacks or bad system??

Do people really suffer from selective memory? Weeden didn't start that game. He was the backup then Yates got hurt midgame and Weeden came in and the texans won. Hmmm now why does that sound eerily familiar to our first game against the eagles? Ohh yeah that's right because that's exactly what happened to us. Romo got hurt Weeden came in and we won the game. Now what exactly happened the next 4 games when Weeden was the starter? Ohh yeah that's right 0-4. How about we revisit this next Sunday if he has actually started and won a game? Smh.

Actually 0-3. Cassel was 0-4 on that seven game losing streak.

Ahh. The point still stand tho. And he was 0-11 if you take it all the way back to Cleveland

Houston's receivers are way better than anything he had to work with here. Maybe the reason he was checking down all the time was because nobody was getting open. Anyway, he will probably get Houston in the postseason with a little help from their awesome defense which is the real reason they won today.

We are 1-9 in games not started by Romo, thanks mainly to Desean Jackson.........we have played 3 different backup QBs

Only two possible scenarios can account for this................

A. Our system and offensive coaching staff is a joke and a 6 yr old with a box of crayons could coordinate this offense better.

or

B. The coaching staff cannot evaluate QBs and all 3 of our backups are so bad that no amount of game planning will work.

Either way, our playbook is written in crayon or we simply cant evaluate QBs, it reflects poorly on Garrett and his staff.

That was arguably weeden's worst game of the year. They won in spite of him because they have a defense playing out of their minds and were up against a 92 year old qb.

the system we have in place is awful!! even Romo needs little stretches of magic to mask often times an inept dumb offense. let's face it Linehan is a freaking joke.

I don't feel that Weeden should be given an "attaboy" for playing Jason Garrett ball against one of the worst defensive teams in the league. The Texans sixteen points is the only time this season that a team has failed to score twenty points on the Colts.

Sixteen points here loses games.

Hindsight has proven that Weeden was pulled too early. He was clearly the more talented option at this point in their respective careers -- compared to Matt Cassel that is. Plus Weeden never had the benefit of playing with Dez Bryant.

That again is another indictment against our coaches. They should have stick to their guns and continued to play Weeden instead of listening to us couch potato fans and owners and traded for Cassel.
