What a strange thread.

Brandon Tate is the superior talent and it really is not even close. Cosby is an overaged prospect whose name would not be on anyone's lips nearly as much if he went to a different school. Let's be realistic here.

You make it sound like the guy is getting Crabtree press.

Cosby played at a bigger program and played well against other big programs, he's earned the right to get a little more yap than a guy who played a handful of games this year and is coming off a season ending knee injury.

Cosby's age and size are what's really working against him, I've seen him projected as a 6th round pick so it's not like the guy is being hyped. Someone here was talking about taking Tate in what, the 3rd round?

Cosby......He is a playmaker. He can catch, return kicks, and he damn sure can lay the wood as a blocker....just ask that fella from OU.

I take Cosby over Tate easily. With that being said, give me Johnny Knox and Mike Wallace. Two adequately sized WRs (around 6' 190) with blazing speed. Add these two players in with Roy, Austin, Crayton, and Hurd, and we have a very nice group of WRs. BTW, if I had to choose, I would take Knox over Wallace.

Word is the Cowboys like Cosby so that's why I asked.

Supposedly they like his work ethic and that was one of the things they kept mentioning during last years draft and they were really impressed with his route running and his versatility as a return man.

Imo Cosby reminds me a little of Deion Branch and just the type of player the Patsies would take.

Tate is a less strongly built guy coming off of a major injury. Tearing the MCL/ACL is usually a 2 year process. But even beyond that he didn't ever prove he was a college WR. He was more of a return specialist than anything.

Most services will rank Tate as a higher prospect but come draft day don't be surprised to see them come off the board within a round of each other. I wouldn't touch Tate before mid 5th and Cosby is probably a 6th round type.

I really hate Florida receivers in the NFL but I would look forward to seeing how Louis Murphy Develops in the pros.

I would think Cosby would be a major steal in the 6th.

Cosby's only flaws are his height and his age.

He plays bigger than what he is though and he is dedicated to football.

He would make a terrific slot receiver and a guy that could return punts and kicks too.

I know he ran a 4.5 too at the Combine.

I like Murphy. I wouldn't want to use our 2nd on him, but if he's there in the 3rd I'd take him. He runs good routes. I think he'd develop quickly, probably starting in 2010.

On topic, I like Tate. A lot. He's one of my favorite WRs in this class. If we can get him late because of the injury concerns, I'd go for it. I don't really think Crosby has the upside of Tate. Sure he doesn't have the production as a WR, but he was on his way to putting it together when he got hurt. Plus UNC's WR corp was awesome. I like all 3 of the UNC WRs in this draft. Tate just seems like a player type we don't have currently on the roster.

Cosby is 5'9" average WR, with average speed that will be 26 years old this year. Yeah, that's what we need.

Hes also a hard working guy who is a tremendous route runner with good possesion skills and just makes plays.

You stick him in the slot and he can do some things. Plus he can do some things in the return game.

Hes just the type of player I can see the Patriots drafting.

Age and height are major flaws, not minor ones which is why he likely falls.

Because of his age he is more mature than many of the guys but also has far less upside.

I wouldn't mind grabbing him at all with a comp 5th or 6th round pick.

Tate is another guy some people love but teams will probably have to PUP him year 1 and then spend 2 years teaching him to play WR while he is a return specialist. Could be dynamic.

So to me these two guys are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Cosby is a known commodity that offers little more than a slot guy, return specialist and Tate could be Lee Evans type guy but it is likely at least 3 years away and he could tear that knee up again and be done forever before that happens.

Yeah, we heard this before too with another smallish UT WR

Wane McGarity...not saying he'll definitely be a waste like McGarity was, but I see similarities...also am not impressed at all with the offense Texas runs as it pertains to translating to the NFL.

Just thought I would post this here... Cosby was just on 103.3 for quite a while with Galloway, and he is a very impressive guy. Seems very bright and handles himself great.

He specifically said that he has not had any kind of a visit with us, though, and only spoke informally for a second with us at the combine. No formal interview, no meeting with the head coach, etc.
