Quantify Quinn

He'll be 29 in May. His salary this year is almost $12million.

He's probably a very slight upgrade over Gregory at this point, his upside is speculative. I imagine if he wants to actually *try*, he'd be a fairly decent #2 pass rusher.

Value depends on what we're giving up and how much of that contract the Dolphins are going to eat.

I am one of the biggest critics on this board of this front office, but this would actually be a good move. Quinn is an excellent pass rusher, can set the edge, and can give run support. He had 6.5 sacks last season with Miami and has one year left on his contract for about $12 million dollars.

Obviously Miami is in "tank for Tua" mode and is having a fire sale right now and they have indicated they are willing to pay a chunk of Quinn's salary to make a trade happen. Kinda like what they did with Tannehill trade to the Titans.

Would be an excellent move if it happens...……knowing this FO like I do, I have my doubts they can pull it off.

Is this another Bash Tank Lawrence thread? Where no matter what anyone says, you try to find a way to criticize that player?
I don't think that's what's happening here at all. We have a pass rushing talent deficit so we can use the services of both of them if we can figure out the money situation.

Pass rush specialist. Solid but not gamechanging anymore. Poor VS the run. Walk year for him, so we may get more production then he has the past few. His ceiling is 10 sacks. 6-8 is more likely

He faded after his 20 sack season with lambs.

Trade possibilities for Quinn to the Cowboys. How do you quantify Quinn the player. What is he? What isn't he? What's his floor, ceiling, and likley level of play?

A more polished Randy Gregory; although Gregory is a better run defender.

The RDE in the Cowboys scheme is often allowed to rush without being required to set the edge against the run. They often have a LB with primary responsibility to set the edge on the right side.

Taco played base downs in 2018 with Gregory playing most of the passing downs. Quinn would just replace Gregory.

I'm hoping so, but those with agendas want to make it an either/or situation.

4 tonnes of tobacco, whale fat, dried meat and a good lead dog.

Like everyone else is saying, until we know how much cash Miami is eating, it's hard to say. At 12M/YR, Quinn better come here and perform. At 6M/YR, I feel confident we'd be very satisfied by season's end with the value at the cost.

I'll just say that I feel a lot better about the DL with him than without him. I would say I hope the deal is smart for Dallas but SJ wont sign unless it is, whether Quinn walks or not.

First of all, I did not even mention Tank in this thread. Second of all I have never said Tank sucks. He may not be worth his cap hit, which is an entirely different matter.

I think you are confusing my posts about Tank with my posts about Dez. That's an entirely different exercise.

No, actually I'm not. You created one the other day that was supposedly about something else and all you talked about was Tank Lawrence and how he wasn't worth the asking price.

Miami is willing to pay part of his salary in order to get a draft pick. It is a decent approach when your owner has very deep pockets and you'd otherwise cut the guy.

Quinn is a good player. He's not worth 12 mill or whatever a year anymore. However, if Miami is paying half, he's certainly worth 6 mill and a 5th. I expect he's meeting with teams to explore an extension or to understand their plans for him as he preps to be UFA again in 2020. Miami is doing good by him - they could have just cut him, instead they are trying to put him in the best situation possible and get a little something back from it.

He's a 28 year old(more than one full year younger than Von Miller)
Right defensive end
He's a former 1st round pick(14th overall) who was traded to the Dolphins for a 4th round pick and a 6th round pick swap during last year's offseason.
He was placed on the IR on December of 2015 and 2016.
He's played in 111 of a possible 128 games for his career.
He's known for his quickness, and had a 4.62 40 yard dash at the combine.
He has 69 career sacks in 92 career starts.

In his last four seasons of "slowing down" he has still averaged one sack per 1.875 starts, which is a pace of 8.5 sacks per season.
In his one playoff game with the 2017 Rams he had a sack and three solo tackles.
That was great

He is a pretty decent pass rusher that can produce at Randy Gregory levels at least for the next few years.
