Question about 4-3 DEs

I'm not speaking for JD, but I don't think he means trading the whole draft for one player.

How else would we trade up for Clowney? It would take our 1, 2, 3, and a future pick. Atleast.

Selvie did not play the run well last year. Look at the runs over that tackle.

You can't completely say strong side or weak side as the formation can change before the snap. Of course the defense doesn't have to set before the ball is snapped so it can send players from one side to the other. Sometimes we do that as does everyone. At times we don't

Ideally you'd have two DEs who could rush and play the run well. That's hard. Before he was hurt Ware played the run well. This last year he'd just run up the field and they'd slip the runner in behind him. Spencer is good at playing the run. Superb even. He can rush the passer reasonably well so he was a very good SDE. It's a shame he didn't play last year.

Crawford and Bass will be able to play the SDE. I don't think either is going to excel at it. And both will be able to slip inside well, too. I think Bass can play a 1 in this defense although I'd not like to see him there too often. Crawford can play it in this defense as well but he'd not be my first choice either.

I'd love to have another pass rusher in fact one better than Selvie. Who knows what we'll get in the draft and how they will pan out. We can only hope we get at least one pass rusher be it a 5 or a 3.

I like the way you think, brother. Give me Mack and I would be thrilled, just about no matter what else happens in the draft.

I'm not so sure about Dallas wanting to trade up as you are, but for Mack, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't want to do it for Clowney though. I'm just not sold on his mental makeup. A huge part of what I love about Mack is what is in his chest and between his ears. The guy goes all out all the time, loves to play football, and plays with a mean streak that most of the great defenders have. I'm not even sure that Clowney likes playing football. I mean, maybe he does... but I just don't know.

I would move up to about 7 or 8 for Mack and for Donald, I would go up to around 11. Barr, I might go up a little for, but I'm not sold on him either.

For me, about the only guys I'd trade extra picks away for would be Mack, Donald, or Manziel. Anyone else, I'd just stay at 16... but that's just me.

You and I see eye to eye. Mack and Donald are definitely worth moving up for. Wouldn't mind for Manziel either.
