We'll likely give Witten a deal like Heap got - 6 year, 30 million with 11 million as a signing/roster bonus. If we could use our extra cap money this year for 6 million of the bonus, we would save 1 mill a year on Witten's cap charge each year.

AdamJT13 said:Roy and Witten won't be free agents until 2007, so there's no hurry to get them signed. I certainly wouldn't expect it until after the CBA is extended, so that their bonuses could be prorated over a longer period. We'll have plenty of cap room next offseason, and if we do sign Roy and/or Witten to an extension, we can structure the deals to have minimal cap numbers in the first season and leave us as much room as we want.
