Question for the Dak Detractors

It’s easier to upgrade all the pieces around a QB over the QB?

Not sure about that. And how is upgrading the “conditions” cheaper?

Absolutely it is. IN this case 100%. All this offense needed was Frederick back and another good lineman. Quality pass catchers.

Are you actually going to sit here and act like going out and finding a top 10 QB in his prime can be found? And where would THAT b e?

I figured Bridgewater would be popular.

What do you pay him, though? He's on 1 year $6 million now. Figure he'll be looking for more and a multi-year deal.

LOL...….Terry Bridgewater? Talk about pathetic. Your are ban from any kind of QB advice.

I don't get the Bridgewater love

He was average before the devasting injury and hasn't shown a thing since

People pining for him are wishcasting at best.....just a name and not a good one

I thought these quacks wanted Tom Brady? LOL

Bridgewater? LOL what a joke.

what part was proven wrong? Which one of those weakness are not true?

You said he had a low ceiling, that was proven wrong.

Dak did not have any trouble with intermediate or deep passes.
He did not try to force throws with his arm strength, leading to his league low INT totals, and he still doesnt do this.
Pressure doesnt trump his progressions, that's why we are screaming at the tv for him to get rid of the ball.

The intention is for this not to be another typical Dak thread. This is for the contingent fans that are ready to move on from Prescott as the QB of the Dallas Cowboys. Instead of debating Dak’s merits (or lack thereof) again, let’s operate under the supposition that we’re moving on, as that is the cry from so many.

So, the question is how do you do so and who is the target. Obviously the two options that exist are free agency and the draft.

2019 Free agents QBs: ................ 2019 probable Draft QBs:

Tyrod Taylor ........................ Justin Herbert, Oregon.
Josh McCown ........................ Drew Lock, Missouri.
Teddy Bridgewater ........................ Will Grier, West Virginia.
Ryan Fitzpatrick ........................ Dwayne Haskins, Ohio State.
Robert Griffin III ........................ Ryan Finley, NC State.
Derek Anderson ........................ Clayton Thorson, Northwestern.
Geno Smith ........................ Jarrett Stidham, Auburn.
Brock Osweiler ........................ Tyree Jackson, Buffalo.
Matt Barkley
Tom Savage
Taylor Heinicke
Brett Hundley
Trevor Siemian

Obviously some of the Draft picks will be out of reach without our #1 pick. Additionally, you can pretty much guarantee you’re not going to win a championship with a rookie. It’s an investment that takes time.

On the FA front, there may be a few QBs that are available with a trade. Possible Carr, maybe Winston.

So what’s the plan ladies & gentlemen?

I haven’t made a final decision yet on Dak nut my plan would be to bring in a decent young vet as a backup. Someone I wouldn’t mind if they had to play. I like Taylor Heinicke personally but who it is doesn’t really matter to me. Dak would continue on on his rookie deal for now and I would look to a future draft for his replacement if I didn’t think he was capable of winning a Super Bowl. If he improves on some of his flaws by next year, then I would look to keep him even if I had to franchise him for a season before signing him or letting him go.

This is a good post because it makes it clear why the Jones are talking extension. I don't see a good option that's within reach, which means that you basically have to hit the jackpot again with someone like Romo who wasn't even drafted and can be starting quality. Dak also has a lot to like, and if he can improve his accuracy and anticipation then we will be in good shape.

I'm hoping for an extension that we can get away from if we end up having to. Dak could turn out to be solid and good enough to win the big one, or he could be a franchise killer for 5 years. But no I don't see a better option here and many teams have paid big money for worse.

The extremes on both sides of this argument are the dumbest stuff uttered on this board.

They really are, but none tops "Romoholic". By far the stupidest phrase ever uttered on this forum and always by the stupidest people.

Unless Rush has shown massive improvements in practice, I’d sign a FA QB this offseason to at least back up Dak.

Don’t extend Dak this offseason. Let him play out his deal. He’s gotta show consistency over a long period of time to deserve big money.

In 2020 either give Dak a big deal or use our first rounder on a QB.

interesting to hear so many opinions on what everyone would do if they owned the Boys

the issue is - what is JJ likely to do?

and from what we hear - Dak get's an extension in the offseason

Teddy. Winston if he becomes available. Stand pat and wait for 2020 draft.

Some combination of that.

Scouting reports can be thrown out the window at this point.

Draft status at this point means nothing. Also low ceiling has already been proven wrong by 2016.
I agree that at this point draft status is meaningless, but its interesting to see that in his 3rd year he still has the same flaws he had in college and no improvements.......

and he was average in 2016..... he was never asked to carry the team and pass our way to winning a game. 2016 was about Zeke and OL. even this year when zeke rushes less than 100 yards and our run game struggles we are 1-4. 5-1 other wise. passing has been average when we lose or when we win. its all about zeke and what he brings to the offense.

how was that proven wrong? he is not among the better passers in the league which is primary job of a QB.

he is a play it safe QB. bus driver. don't make mistakes and don't need you to win games, lean on Zeke to get victories. that's why his Ints are low. he has a big flaw with his throws, including his fundamentals and his foot work is bad. when he sets his feet and follows his throws, he can be accurate, but most often he doesn't. he is very very inconsistent. His release point is very inconsistent as a result that leads to inaccuracies. He most often tries to power his way through with his arm instead of his feet and hips. Dak is very inaccurate with deep passes and placement of his deep passes. even the one long pass he had to Austin against giants, it was under thrown and Austin had to slow down to catch the ball and if not for the CB making a mistake and being out of position, Austin wouldn't have been able to make the catch. He doesn't throw with anticipation because he doesn't trust his arm, so the WR has to be in final part of his route, and open before he makes the throw.... that's why he misses so many. earlier in the year he stared down his receiver, but in the past two games he has used his eyes more to set up the defense. he doesn't do enough of that and he doesn't read defenses well. his first reaction is always to pull the ball down and run instead of pass or make tight throws.

I think what some want is to change the offense , change it to a throw it around pass first offense. Be like the Chiefs , Rams , Saints of old. The Cowboys of not so long ago and win or loose it will at least be exciting. There might be 4 QB's in the league that can sustain a constant drop back and pass attack, Blame is being spent in the wrong place. If you want to average over 30 points a game , you have to blame the system, The Ball control system.

We are somewhat limited on what we can do at the swan postion. I think the key is we don’t hand Dak a huge contract and then be stuck with it. Take the cheap contract with Dak next year and look for your QB of the future in 2020. Find another cheap game manager if you can’t find one in 2020 until you can invest in a top prospect.

When Dak makes huge money he will have to carry more of the load and I am not sure that is possible. If he does make huge money and plays at the same level he is today, I will turn from a supporter to a hater because he won’t be living up to his contract.
