Question for the Dak Detractors

Just a QB coach and a OC please.

Seriously even if we draft or bring in a guy, who coaches him? Kellen freaking Moore?

This. Can you imagine all the crap Dak would get if his back up won the SB and then Dak gets his job back only for the Cowboys to look as bad as Philly does right now?

Half of his board would march on Irving.
:hammer:

If only dak looked more like Tony Romo:rolleyes:

Bet it'd be okay to go 8-8 back to back to back

An alternative would have been to not draft Cooper, play hard this season, develop our young defense, higher a new HC in January, trade our 2019 top 10 draft pick for future picks, see if Dak can be a difference maker with new guidance / modern scheme and some more intelligent Dak friendly FA receiver help, if not, go all out on a QB in 2020 (presumably with good draft position after a rebuilding season in 2019 & 2 first round draft picks).

You’re kidding me right?

Stop me if you’ve heard these excuses trotted out for Dak:

“He just needs better coaching”
“He just needs to be used right”
“He just needs better receivers”
“He just needs better play calling”
“He just needs a better OC”
The funny thing about Dak is that Zeke makes him a borderline NFL QB but Dak doesnt do anything to help Zeke in the running game.

The only QB on that list that I would be interested in is a Ryan Finley. I've heard great things about him.

Thats why Dallas needs to draft pedigree! They dont have the ability to coach someone up they need someone that already has good mechanics and footwork along with a good arm and ability to read defenses.

All these discussions about Dak and whether he'd be better with different coaches, different gameplan, different supporting cast etc. and that he should be extended etc. remind me of how Tampa Bay fans used to talk about Josh Freeman.....

To answer the question posed by the opening post.

Two options in my mind.

1. Tony Romo - you can now barely touch a QB in the league, he would transform this current offense to an elite level.
2. Draft a QB in the second round of the 2019 draft and keep Prescott for one more season as the starter until the second round pick is ready to rock and roll. Dump Prescott at the end of the 2019 season.

Lol, good luck with that working out.

Proven wrong? I think it has been proven right. All the issues with Dak in the scouting department are still there. These are the same weaknesses we see every time he takes the field. Which leads to sacks and throws that are only 10 yards or under.

poor accuracy on intermediate and deep throws
Concern over pressure too often trumps ability to get through progressions
Must speed up the pace of his reads
too often tries to muscle throws with upper body
Throws to target rather than leading
must be more willing to challenge the defense
Needs to improve anticipation
must improve his mechanics, poise and quickness through his progressions
Bingo, you win, some just can't accept it, can he improve sure, hopefully he does but his draft profile fits to this point, get ready for the flack and insults to your intelligence.

The same excuses are being used by Eagles fans on their own boards for Wentz. Pederson sucks and they need a new OC since Reich left because the playcalling sucks. Ags is regressing and Alshon isn't what he used to be. The OL isn't giving him enough time, he holds the ball too long, he's not going through his reads and only focuses on Ertz. Every QB needs solid coaching and personnel around them for the team to be successful.

I’m not a Dak detractor by any means.

That being said. I am a realist and right now Dak isn’t good enough. The team needs to be smart about how they move forward and give themselves options if Dak doesn’t make some serious improvements.

Honestly, the best thing they could do is. Hire a new head coach. Who actually knows what he is doing offensively and can run a modern NFL offense.

Let him evaluate and decide what to do at QB.

Was Romo a 2nd tier QB?
the difference between Dak and Romo was that Romo made the players around him better, The players around Dak make him better and that is the problem, no Dak hate or Romo love just happens to be the way it is. So far neither has done much in the play-offs .
