Question: Is This The Last Year For Patrick Crayton As A Cowboy?

This thread is absurd.

Crayton is a decent player who doesn't cost a whole lot, but who probably doesn't have a great deal of trade value.

Doing anything other than keeping him as insurance next year makes no sense.

Some people shouldn't have the ability to make new threads.

This is why Cowboy fans r laughed @ when talkin players. Crayton is not an average #2 WR he is a poor to below average #2 WR. He is not a good slot WR he is an average slot guy who will lose his job to amendola next year. That's if the boys run a real training camp.

Crayton is PERFECT in the slot. Don't you guys remember not long ago many here were goo-goo over Crayton there? He'll see much more time there when RW gets his reps in. Crayton stays, Miles will get his time as well, just to spell Owens or RW.

I love it when people accuse others of being Cowboy homers, and then throw out the biggest homer reach of the thread in the same post.

No! only in the overall scheme of things. The bottom line is that Miles could give us something Crayton hasn't given us which is size/speed/explosiveness and overall Miles is just a cheaper option.

With the Cowboys giving up a 1,3,6 for RW's we could try to get something for PC and Miles would still give us a very good #3 with the chance to be a #2 after Owens retires.

Understand? Hopefully you do.

When have you ever seen Miles run anything other then a Slant, post or fade route? what could he possibly give us as a slot WR that's an upgrade over what we already have?
Every time he's been on the field this season Crayton has been moved to the slot that should tell you something.

And don't say we don't need Crayton the week 1 WR mess sure made it obvious that we need WR dept if any WR should go it's Skyler Green V.2.0 aka Stanback

If you really want to save money then why get rid of Crayton when the likes of Barbie is getting 1st round money to suck at SP and sit on the bench. Crayton is nowhere near the money sponge some others are

We should keep...

Owens (2-3 years until he retires)
Williams (6-7 years until he retires)
Crayton (1-2 years until he demands higher money)
Austin (Within 2-3 years will move into a starting role)
Stanbach (Who knows- could still emerge?)
Hurd (Same as above.)

Why get rid of any of them? We're set for 2-3 years at least with this bunch. They will thin out at their own pace. Before long we'll be yearning for another one. As recent history has taught us in this situation- can't hurt to have more than enough than not enough at all.

Crayton stays. Unfortunately. Problem is you folks are using this teams receiving corp as a measure stick. Bad idea. Crayton ain't that good.

Stanback, you wanna talk about a waste of a roster spot, and Hurd are gone. JMO.

No doubt! Hurd may have a shot to stay but I agrre Stanback will be gone.

I did? and where would that be? the fact the that move Crayton to the slot when Austin is inn the game? :laugh2:

that has more to do with Austins speed being better suited to play outside

Yes, it is.

Im a big Patrick Crayton fan.

I think he could start for quite a few teams in the league.

The problem is Miles Austin is going to be a stud and with his agility and Quick he would be really good in the slot.

He also has some trade value and we could possibly get some good picks for him.

Hes gone if his trade doesn't hurt our cap.

So it's about 1.5 million to 2 million dollar cap hit right? I think the Cowboys could absorb that with no problem.

Which is wasting money taking a 2 million cap hit for a productive player is stupid. The guy is a solid player and a good wr in the slot. Just because we keep crayton does not mean we have to cut Austin you people are mind boggling crazy sometimes Austin is in year 3 and he has improved but it 2 years he will not be a good #2 option he is a soild player nothing more.

The guys that need to go next year are on defense and to replace them with FA we need to keep all the cap dollars we can

Guys like Greg Ellis and what about the oline you realize Columbo is a FA and we could use more depth along the line and how can you get them if you waste 2 million because you wasted the money for cutting a guy you can not upgrade from for that money :bang2::bang2::bang2::bang2:

LOL @ Amendola.

You keep Crayton. Its cheaper to keep him than trade/release him. Secondly, WR is now a position where we are fairly deep at. If we move Crayton, we are down to Owens, Williams, Austin, Stanback, Hurd. One injury to Owens or Williams and we are back to being thin at WR.

Look at CB. We thought we were deep with Newman, Henry, Jones, Jenkins, Scandrick.

Now, with Newman's injury and Jones's suspension, we are thin. Why move Crayton?

If he does go - I won't miss his big mouth.

I have absolutely no problem with his talking. Charles Haley and Michael Irvin talked too.

Charles Haley and Michael Irvin backed it up with their play on the field though.

Crayton can talk all he wants as far as I'm concerned, but he needs to "walk the walk" not just "Talk the talk".
