Can someone explain to me what this whole situation was about?

No excuse for my mistake involving Irvin

You can't write about athletes and accountability, and then fail to hold yourself to the same standard.
That would be hypocrisy at its best.
So here's the deal: When I did a segment on the NFL Network on Thursday about T.O., I was talking about some of the people I thought Jerry might have spoken to regarding T.O..
I named several people, including Michael Irvin. Then I said I didn't think any of them told Jerry that T.O. should stay.
Of course that couldn't possibly be true because we all know Irvin has been one of T.O. staunchest supporters as has Deion Sanders.
That's my mistake, and there's no excuse for it.
I didn't even realize it until Michael called me this afternoon. Obviously, he was mad as he should've been since we all know he has a soft spot for T.O.
You have to always be careful when you're naming names in the media, which I am. You have to be even more careful on live TV because you don't get a do over if you screw up.
All you can do is admit your mistake, apologize and take every precaution to make sure it doesn't happen again.
It certainly is a big deal if it hurt his relationship with TO or hurt any other relationships with players who might think Irvin is a backstabber.Aven8;2680755 said:Michael needs to GET OVER IT!!! It was no big deal.
Like his reputation is going to be tarnished over this is beyond me!
That's what happens when guys like Irvin and Deion back players like TO and Pacman....you have to be able to face the facts.
He simply stated he believed that Jerry might have spoken with them...not that they did!!!

It doesn't bother me. Does that satisfy the question?TheCount;2680783 said:Is it still Cowboying up when as part of your apology, you go out of your way to state that the person that called you out has a soft spot for TO? Nevermind that you spoke for them, and that's the issue, not that they are so biased they'd never take a stand against TO.
JTT does this everytime he makes an apology or talks about holding himself accountable, he can't just bite the bullet and apologize, he's always gotta sneak some of his bs in.
That's cowboying up?

We're talking about hundreds of players, some that Irvin doesn't even know that might think he's a backstabber. I can't believe you don't get that its his reputation that could have been hurt here.Aven8;2680812 said:If they have that good of a relationship then it won't matter....Irvin can just call him up and let him know he didn't say it.
It's no big deal IMO....I can't believe I posted twice about this subject.
Most people don't like JJT because he ususally says it like it is. I like that. I don't want to hear Spagnola kissing the brass and giving the company line!
