JJT should have "cowboyed up" on the air not after the fact.
This is simply saving face.

Bottom line is he used examples he knew couldn't be true and as such overstated his point. That has been the biggest gripe anyone has had with the media all off-season. Everything they say is baloney because it is all in absolutes and guarantees we know to be false. Like JFE's recent article.

The article loses nothing by being less shock jock and stating what actually is, as opposed to overstating what we all know to be the case.

I am hopeful the bad reporting leaves us with T.O. I really wish we could send these reporters to Buffalo as well.

Irvin is mad about this? Goodness. If he's worried TO actually thinks that he didn't go to bat for him then the relationship between TO and himself wasn't all that strong to begin with.

He's mad because he thinks the media has been lying all along and that the media's lies is what forced T.O. out. But in this case he had proof that not only was what JJT stated not true, JJT knew it wasn't true and it involved him directly. Irvin has been griping for a couple weeks about the media stories.

He accepts T.O. has issues but has a real problem with the media using those issues to sell stories by assuming an anything goes reporting style with the guy.

Or maybe he's mad because JTT made a baseless accusation on national television and used his name as validation.

If your brother got fired from a job and someone on the outside said, "I don't know anyone that even wanted him there, not Dave, not Steve, not even his own brother."

You'd probably take issue.

Don't know if you feel this way or are attributing it to Irvin, but the media is not why Owens is not here, guaranteed.

On topic, I posted earlier in the thread that the whole piece was garbage in its presentation and delivery. I've found JJT's writing to be much better than his actual face time. He tries too hard when the camera is on.

Bottom line, sometimes I agree and like what he writes, other times I think he's trying to meet a deadline. Whatever. Not that serious.

Oh yeah, and he does have a habit of apologizing with a "yeah but..." Just let it go JJT. It really won't kill you.

the apology is fine.

that said Irvin is in the "unlistenable to" category on the radio.

it's a shame he and his on-air dummies/partners/guests can't even complete a cohesive thought! Struggling to speak even a complete sentence without interruption or change of conversation.

that is exactly why i quit listening.....too much subject jumping...they start by talking about a players play the night before and 2 minutes in they shift to his wife problems then spend 2 hours arguing their points with Mike taking the manly approach while Kevin takes the woman's side and never get back to the game itself....same show everyday...

it sucks cause i liked mike on ESPN and was happy when he got his radio gig...but its just un listenable

JJT is what he is - an average beat reporter. He screws some things up, gets a few scoops just like normal journalists.

I will give him credit for not selling out and turning his column into a tabloid/shock style writing.

You are being nice there. During the Austin/Wichita Falls training camp era, JJT was noted numerous times for sitting around all day, yakking to his friends, talking on his phone, doing anything but paying attention to the players on the field. He would then produce a 'report' that was pretty much a copy of the team presser or handout for the day.

Perhaps he's gotten better, but every time I see something he's written, I remember this....

T.O. doesn't believe the press anyway. So he and Irvin should still be tight. ;)

Michael needs to GET OVER IT!!! It was no big deal.

Like his reputation is going to be tarnished over this is beyond me!

That's what happens when guys like Irvin and Deion back players like TO and Pacman....you have to be able to face the facts.

He simply stated he believed that Jerry might have spoken with them...not that they did!!!

Of course it's a BIG DEAL especially to Irvin, TO is his friend.. Wake up dude!!

You saw that too?

Amazing, that's exactly what I think when I see his mug, too.

I remember it vividly: JJT yukking it up on the phone, not paying any attention at all to practice. In fact, not even facing the practice field most of the time. Just sad that most of us fans would be or are glued to the action, while guys like JJT who are paid to watch it act like camp is an excuse to pretend they're big shots who are too good to have to pay attention.

JJT sounded as stupid as he looks when he went on ESPN. Ole frog face spewing his normal Cowboys crap to his ESPN god that he serves.

Little does that moron realize, he will not be the latest DNM reporter moving into the big leagues. After choking during his primetime slot and stuttering like a schoolgirl with an ESPN crush.

Nice job JJT/frogboy!

I saw that segment and it was pathetic.

The whole piece was JJT's conjecture. They asked him what happened with Owen's release and he went off and said about ten things. Every single sentence started with "I think..."

In other words, he had not one piece of fact that he could say "this is what happened."

I understand he's a columnist and is paid to share his opinions. But that was just a bad lead and set up because they referred to him and set him up to be someone with knowledge of the actual discussions, etc. that went on. SOMETHING tangible and he provided nothing.

And, yes, I was really was embarrassed for him the way he decided to deliver what he was saying as if he was "on the corner." When people notice how incorrectly you are speaking it's a problem. Particularly on a nationwide broadcast and you are supposed to be a writer for a major news publication.

That whole segment should never have aired IMO as he contributed or provided nothing of value or substance, with his material or his delivery.

Well said. Can't stand the guy and his "if you want to know go here _____"

typical...speculation and lies. that's what the bulk of "sports journalism" has become with most "journalists" having egos bigger than the athletes they're covering and criticizing
