Questions about Zeke's Appeal

Elliott is not Brady either. He gets 6 as a message sent. After that??? Watch out regarding taking the owners on! Its dangerous...ask Kapearnick and many others.

Different situations -- particularly Kaepernick who broke no rules or laws.

I think, and this is pure speculation: in court, the NFL would have a hard time justifying anything more than 2 games based on precedent set by the Ray Rice situation and the Greg Hardy case.

Ray got 2 then more after the video was released and he completed court ordered remedies.

Hardy got 10 then 6 after again -- a court of law originally found him liable.

Zeke got 6 games with nothing but "evidence" and "metadata" and no prosecution, no charges, no conviction, no nothing in the criminal justice system. Yes, the league and union are collectively bargained, but good faith is good faith, as well as fundamental fairness. It'll be hard for the NFL to justify Zeke's suspension in light of other suspensions and the evidence, if the evidence is what is stated and there isn't more that we are not seeing as fans.

One of the main reasons I ask is because the current odds of Zeke leading the league in rushing yards is +2500, rushing TDs is +2000.

If you were to place a $5,000 wager on Zeke leading in rushing yards you'd win $125,000; if you were to place a $5,000 wager on Zeke leading in rushing TDs you'd win $100,000.

$200 wins $5,000 for rushing yards and $200 wins $4,000 for rushing TDs for more sane wager amounts; but I've been seeking a large futures wager for a while now and this one is peaking my interest along with LeBron James to win the NBA MVP at +650 for 2017.

These odds were about +200 prior to his suspension news, meaning you would've been earning a mere $4,000 on a $2,000 bet.

I am starting to think it is highly likely that Zeke is either suspended for only 2 games or less, or that he takes it to federal court. It is worth nothing Emmitt led the league in yards in 1993 when he missed 3 games. (He had 1 game with 1 carry 1 yard / holdout). The worst case scenario is Zeke is suspended 4 games and he does not appeal, your bet would likely dead at that point.

If Zeke is let off the hook for the suspension, or appeals it and it leads to a 2018 suspension, the expected value on this bet is madness.

Thoughts?
I can't believe any book is even taking the action..... too much is unknown

Like you said if he wins the appeal or pushes until 2018 that is easy money

It's about challenging authority. The league policy regarding DV, right or wrong, proved legally or otherwise, is 6 games. Brady or Kapearnick really didn't commit any legally provable crime. Its about power and the owners are about power.

When is the appeal decision supposed to take place?

I believe the appeal hearing was set for August 29th (next Tuesday).

If they are unsatisfied with the decision, expect the complaint to be filed in Federal court on Wednesday morning. The NFL will likely drag the appeal into the afternoon to allow Zeke's lawyers no time to file before close of business on the 29th.

The appeal hearing is 8/29........ it should be about 7-10 days to get a decision........... it took 5 weeks for Brady

If he loses then he should run to Federal Court to appeal..... he would need an injunction to keep playing while waiting on the Fed case...... if granted he will be safe to play for all of 2017

I have the 7th pick in a money league and I'm taking Zeke if he is there

So, how plausible will it be to get the appeal decision before week one? Can they drag it out guaranteeing Zeke missing NY?

Zeke would almost 100% get a delay if he asked for it before the hearing

The NFL had a year to make their case..... a couple weeks would be reasonable

After the case it is up to Henderson but his decision would have to come by Sept 4th for Zeke to miss Week 1

I think it's the beard.

I mean, sure, he's got some nice physical characteristics. he's got a great smile. I hear he is intelligent.

But personally? Definitely has to be the beard....

The NFL is required to hear the appeal within 10 days. However there is no timetable for them to rule.

Interested to see how Josh Brown and his one game factor in. Could be the ultimate justice for Mara!

I have questions about Zeke's appeal that I believe other Cowboys fans would be interested in if there is anyone that knows relevant info.

1) Can the appeal last into the 2017 season and end up not having him suspended for this year-- rather serve his suspension in the 2018 season? Essentially, will we know the result of the appeal before the season starts or is there a chance the appeals drag on for a long period of time?

2) Is it likely he serves a suspension for two or less games?

Thanks in advance.

The risk is should it go to court and the court rule on it before the end of the season, meaning if we are in post season he risk being suspended for the playoffs.

Here is the most important question. I am picking 4th in fantasy. Johnson, Bell and AB are gone. Do I take Julio or roll the dice on Zeke not getting suspended?

I might be mistaken, but I don't think suspensions are enforced in the post-season.

Those cases wouldn't be precedent as those instances occurred before the DV policy was put in place.

1) If, after the NFL's appeals process for Elliott is complete, and Elliott's camp is unsatisfied with the result, they can seek a temporary injunction to basically put the suspension "on hold" while the issue is litigated in federal court. This would be similar to the route that Tom Brady took, where he played all 16 games the previous year, but eventually lost to the NFL in appellate court and served the 4-game suspension last September.

2) I think that it's most likely that the suspension is halved in an attempt for the NFL to show it's "tough" on domestic violence up front, but that it has a "fair" appeals process. I think anything less than 3 or 4 games after appeal is probably too optimistic.

I agree that the NFL will cut the suspension in half. However, if I'm innocent, there's no way I'm serving a three game suspension just because the number of games I'm out is insignificant. If Zeke does serve the suspension, he's guilty, and I have no respect for him.
