Questions regarding Mike White

Hey a few years ago we drafted a 4th round QB who immediately started, broke the record for attempts without first INT, Les the team to an 11 game winning streak and broke several records

Surely a 5th round pick can come close to that, right?

LOL, seriously he a developmental guy, I doubt the Cowboy's would hava a problem getting him on the practice squad. I'm just happy to see the Cowboy's going back to drafting quarterbacks.

In the past 25 years, White is only the 5th QB drafted by the Cowboy's. They need to get in the habit of drafting and developing quarterbacks. A good team needs a viable alternative to their starter should something happen and it's much cheaper if it's your own guy instead of overpaying for another team's reject

White is a 5th round rookie QB. Not many impress like Prescott did. I personally think he was drafted to create competition for Rush. However if he doesn't perform well enough if imagine he would be cut and added to the practice squad.

Maybe Rush should have been drafted? He doesn't look great but he gets it done, in the preseason at least.

I expect the final PS snaps between the backups to end up about 60/40 toward Rush. He must show the Cowboys they don't need to sign another QB.

The QB with the most to prove usually ends up playing most of the final PS game. I expect that to be White with a little bit of Dalton Sturm.
If we cut Cooper, we're going to need a suicide watch!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never fear.....if Dak goes down, Kellan Moore will hang up his whistle...
I just saw beams of sunlight in my face... the voices of angels trumpeting in my ears and... is that Kellen turning water into wine?
I hope it's a Sangiovese!!!

I think when we got to round 5 that maybe we went with best player available on the board. He was it.

Likely see a big dose of him soon. He isn’t as good as Rush and at this point he may not ever be in the NFL, but we have seen a very small sample in live action. They may have noticed in practice he isn’t going to make it. No big news coming from staff. I don’t think he is really good and they are hiding it from everyone so we can slip him on PS and him not get poached.

Very limited time in one preseason game from a very raw rook? No one knows if it was a mistake yet or not. Plus, is it ever a mistake throwing a dart at a QB in the 5th w/ a great arm?
Agreed. I meant even if they thought the pick was a miss, they would not admit it yet and let things play out. Like you, I am always in favor in taking a shot at a QB in the draft and see if you get lightning in a bottle.

Well he's a Pisces and likes long walks on the beach and being sincere, but still funny.
He definitely likes a sense of humor, but looks are important too!
Must love dogs...
:lmao2:

I don't care who you are, that's just damn funny!

Have not heard much about him. I have heard he has a pretty ggo to impressive arm. However have also heard he is slow in his decision making, which can be a common thing for a rookie just trying to learn the plays.

However seems to have been more hyped prior to the draft than Cooper was in his draft year.

However IIRC it seems like Cooper looked much better at this time in his rookie camp than White has so far.

It's still early but unless Cooper still looks good and White turns it so, I think it is fair to say we only keep two QB due them wanting more in other areas.

Yer' one of them there 'Craig's list' personals posters,,,I knew ito_O

I think a lot of fans fell in love with Mike White when they saw his highlight videos even though most players look good in highlight videos. I like his potential, but right now that's all it is .. potential.

Rush had a great pre-season last year which ultimately earned him the backup spot on the roster. I think Rush's lock on the backup position will hinge heavily on his performance during pre-season again this year.

If Rush plays poorly, I think the Cowboys will be more likely to bring in a veteran than simply bump White up to the #2 spot.
I say this all the time- college highlight films are extremely overrated. Most of the opposing players in those highlights will never darken the door of an NFL facility. Even preseason game highlights need some context. If a guy looks great in the 4th qtr of a ps game it may be against guys who are about to get cut. Context is everything.

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in a veteran and stashing White on the PS . That won't be what happens, though.

It's gotten so that I barely watch the highlight reels of incoming rooks any more. If you do, you can only watch for the little things and physical traits. For a QB, it's about looking off WR's, going through progressions, reading D's. For other players, you watch for lateral agility and burst, mostly.

I haven't been at camp so I have no more access to data that anyone else has. What I've seen of him in camp videos and pre-season game number 1 is a very raw talent. He's thinking too much and still getting used to the offense. He's going to need to be developed. It'd be better for him to be the number 3 quarterback rather than a practice squad quarterback so that he can be there on game day. But if they need the roster spot, I doubt anyone would nab him from the practice squad.
