Quinnen Williams trade might have been a mistake

[lk8701]

The team regards itself as being in win-now mode - whether any of us agree with that or not. They were always going to trade one of those two first round picks.

There were far worse players they could have done it for.

Then why not hire a win now head coach? John Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin were available.

This.

You can’t predict the future, but at the time that was one of the better trades anyone could make.

I see this thread a lot around here with a lot posters trying to read the stars and tea leaves. ‘We can’t give up draft picks because…’. Which trails off because they think it goes without saying.

Basically if you wait, you’re dead.

Appears we don’t do so well trading for them either

Not a lot to like around these parts

They could've drafted Josiah Trotter with the 2nd round pick. The Packers this year might end up being a top 10 pick and the draft is stacked. 2 Foundational Pieces on rookie contracts is a better deal than Quinnen on a huge contract.

Might have been, or might have not...good thread!!

I agree. Don’t shoot the messenger.

I wasn’t a fan of the hire but I at the very least thought he was experienced. Coaching like a intern.

That would have been some serious fortune telling.

The trade is done and done.

I have to say I surprised they let the Jets get the better of two picks.

I would have thought it would be the other way around, but what do I know. The Jets demanded the better of the two and that’s what we ended up with.

Get spammed by poor takes from unknowledgable fans like coogiligoogli who are just looking for attention definitely doesnt help

Dude knows absolutely nothing about real football. He’s like the kid that listens to the experts and regurgitates what he hears… but occasionally thinks he’s smarter than he is and drops a hot take as if it’s some never before thought-of perspective.

[exciter]

Didn't look good last year isn't looking good this year, got paid because of his name

Lol,
After joining Cowboys
PFF of 89 2nd at position
91 run defense grade 1st at position
32 total pressures 3rd at position
19.6 pass rush win rate 2nd at position
When you make a fool of yourself you do it right eh!

While I love me some Q, he's on the backside of his career.

However, Jerry hates drafting DTs. Trading for Q means he doesn't have to.

[kskboys]

It’s not looking great at this point.
For the draft capital and salary we gave up , you should have gotten a difference maker.

He is a difference maker.

To me Quinnen Williams has been getting better every week in this scheme. He's going to be just fine.

Think about what the DT room would look like if they hadn't done this trade.

Like it did the last 2 seasons!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[CATCH17]

Depends what they ask him to do.

If he can shoot gaps then I’m fine with the trade.

But if he’s just there to clog up the run and hold blocks then that’s a big time terrible trade.

I hate giving up premium picks for anything involving the run game.

I’m convinced some of yall just don’t like having good players.

Keep in mind the OP has a history of only creating troll type threads.

[deerhunter11]

Why? Because he doesn’t have 20 sacks already? Q is fine……

Big Q looked good last week, his play improves when he gets to move towards the QB and backfield . Q is a good 3 technique that has power to pressure up the middle. This is how he should be used for the best results. Taking on multiple blockers is not his game.

[big dog cowboy]

The only mistake with the Q Williams trade is it should have been done two years sooner when Parsons was still playing for the Cowboys.

Hey ksk
You know you are one of my favorite posters, but I have not seen a player who has played up to his salary or cost in picks.
But hey, I don’t break down game film either,
Lol

[JoeyBoy718]

It is frustrating. We see guys come here and get worse. Q was a star with the Jets, Clark and Gary was good players, even Dee Winters was serviceable.

Then you see guys leave and do better elsewhere. D-Law is a champion, Osa looks good, heck even Maliek Collins and Sam Williams look good on the Browns.
