"Omaha... Omaha..."

Not sure about what Omaha means, but I sure as s#@t know what KILL KILL KILL means!
LOL

I always thought it meant maximum protection agaist the blitz. Telling the rb to stay and block not to swing out

I wish they would say something different than Omaha b/c it always makes me think of Remember the Titans.

"omaha, punch omaha"

...then the QB proceeds to get blasted and be out until the last play of the season :laugh2:

The offense can still go on two huts after the Omaha call. The Omaha call just means that everything after is live, but it can be either on one or two after it.

You're right. It appeared we were going on the first hut. I heard one-eighty a lot after omaha then a hut. But you're right. I suspect Dallas is trying to cut down on the false starts and still get everyone right on the reads before the snap.

From what I have been told the Omaha has to do with the pass protection. Its a change to what was called in the huddle. Also I asked about the "kill, kill, Kill" because like 85% of the time its a run. I was told depending on the play it could mean a few different things. If a Inside run was called it could change it to the outside run or vice-versa. Also, a run to a pass or pass to run it all depends on what the 2 plays that were called in the huddle and what the audible call is for that week

I think it is a snap count. There's been a couple times this season where we've heard Romo call a play in the huddle, either when he was miced up or TChoice. Romo would call the play and give the snap count. On one particular play he says "Omaha, Omaha, ready? break."

I'm guessing that means the snap is on the second omaha, or rather, Romo actually says at the line, "Omaha, omaha, set." And Dre snaps the ball.

Edit: Here it is. You can hear it at the :36 mark.

I thought red always sends in two plays and if romo looks at defense and doesn't like the first call, he yells the omaha to let the line know they are going with the second play.

Makes sense to me, just send in two plays out of the same formation then there ya go...

Omaha is frequently used my many teams as a way of telling the Center and O-Line that the next "Hut" I give is live.

It is used mainly by teams who do a lot of "check with me's" or play changes at the line.

If you go back and watch games, listen for "Omaha" or "Mayday" and then check the playclock. It will most likely be about to run out.

"Mayday" is a call that is given if there is not enough time left to Motion or Shift and the offense needs to snap the ball. Not used as often now, but still valid.
Bingo.

On the topic of this thread, alot of times Romo said "180" and then something else right after to snap the ball. The snap word sounds to be a 3 syllable word, but I have no idea what it is.

A. What is the word?

B. What does 180 mean?

He's saying "White 80, Set," best I can hear.

Just like in baseball where the managers give a lot of false signals, QBs say a lot of stuff that means nothing at all. Only the Offense knows whether what he is saying means something or not. In the huddle the QB will give 2 plays. One is the called play and the other is an audible out.

Sometimes the QB will say "Kill, kill, kill." That is usually a signal that they are switching to the audible because of something the QB has read in how the Defense sets up. maybe they are showing blitz and it was a deep route that won't work now because they may be coming.

So the QB has false calls as well as real calls. Some coaches call them dummy calls.

Jerry could probably gain a lot of advertising dollars if he could get Romo to say "Mutual of" or "Steaks" in that cadence somewhere.

Romo has been doing it a long time now...But yeah, I've heard other QBs say Omaha too...I've heard Tony also follow up Omaha with 'Kill, kill' (Perhaps as a blitz is being lined up)
