Says........

Your magic 8 ball again?

Fact is, Romo did not outplay Bledsoe in preseason play.....that is why Bledsoe started.

While playing with the 2nd and 3rd teamers and playing 4 times as much as Bledsoe Romo still comprised numbers comparable to the 14 year vet. Romo was ready. We all saw it. some of us wanted it. We debated back and forth on this board as the Thinker took sack afte sack after sack for weeks.

2006 Pre-Season Passing Stats
Player Att Comp Yds Comp % Yds/Att TD TD % INT INT % Long Sack/Lost Rating
Tony Romo 92 64 833 69.6 9.1 3 3.3 3 3.3 48 2/11 95.1
Drew Bledsoe 44 33 425 75.0 9.7 3 6.8 1 2.3 52 1/8 118.1

I don't see where Bledsoe clearly did anything more admirable in the preseason. If anything, Romo showed his Moxie with the scrubs and worked himself into a position to get starting consideration. Unfortunately Bill chose the easy route.

Jones? Jerry Jones?

Ok we make the playoffs DO WE WIN? Otherwise it is no better than this year and we would have been better keeping the original staff

The idea of changing was to make us better right? Now you are saying we will be the same

We will improve from this point forward.

YOU are the one that said Parcells was an idiot for not starting Romo 16 games

That means he should have started week 1

So no I was not able to see weeks 1-3 during the preseason since you know they hadnt occured yet.

Dont change the source of your arguments it was Parcells was dumb for not starting him the whole way which as was shown would have been a stupid decision to make based on Bledsoes preseason

Weeks 1-3 of the regular season.

See my previous reply to Vintage.

Were we watching the same weeks 1-3 when Bledsoe was getting slapped around by opposing defenses like a rag doll?

I know this is hard for you to understand....but we'll try this again....

In Preseason.....Bledsoe outplayed Romo. Therefore, basing his decision on Bledsoe's good performance in PRESEASON, Parcells went with Bledsoe.

Unless you are trying to argue that Parcells should have consulted your magic 8-Ball to determine how Bledsoe would play BEFORE THE GAME, your point is irrelevant.

Pulling your starting QB after one week would have been stupid, so Parcells let Bledsoe ride. And in week 2, he played better and we won....

Bledsoe:

Week 1 v. JAC (Loss)
PASSING
CP/AT YDS TD INT
D. Bledsoe 16/33 246 1 3
2 sacks

Week 2 v. WASH (Win)
PASSING
CP/AT YDS TD INT
D. Bledsoe 19/38 237 2 0
1 sack

Week 3 v. TEN (Win)
PASSING
CP/AT YDS TD INT
D. Bledsoe 13/20 179 2 1
0 Sacks

Week 4 v. PHI (Loss)
PASSING
CP/AT YDS TD INT
D. Bledsoe 18/38 223 0 3
6 sacks (the wheels fell off)

Romo could have done this and much more. Had he started he would have gotten the rust off and done quite well. One could argue we might have gone into Philly and represented ourselves much better with Romo at the helm in week 4. This is simply my opinion. A very strong one.

Did you or did you not say that Parcells was an idiot for not starting Romo for 16 games?

You did not say he should have started romo after week 3, so to continue talking about week 1-3 is worthless when it was not part of your argument

If that'll make you happy sure. I will guarantee we won't be wanting to throw things at our televisions next year.

Weeks 1-3 pissed me the hell off because the guy I thought should have started in week 1 was sitting on the bench while Bledsoe played like statue that he is.

Let's just basically say, for the sake of argument, that every regular season minute this year that ticked from the clock before Romo was given the reigns pissed me off.

You have a great way of saying something withoput saying anything at all.

Based on preseason 99 out of 100 coaches would have started Bledsoe you do not dispute this

Yet you say that Parcells is an idiot for doing what should have been done

Not winning a playoff game next year with Parcells after 5 years under his reign would have been a failure and a half.
Not winning with a new regime? I'll refer you to my year 1,2,3,4 progression that I posted earlier.

gotcha

You fail to see the distinct difference between yesterday and today. You see, yesterday I would have said no it's not ok. Expecations for a coach with Bill's resume that was brought in to get us deep into the playoffs going into his 5th year without any playoff wins to speak for would have been extremely high. Given his track record in Dallas he wouldn't have met them.

Fast forward to today. That dated philosphy has been purged. I understand the dynamics behind a coaching change. Therefore, I will not see a playoff loss in the first year as a failure. I say this while also holding firm to my statement that "We will win a playoff game next year". I'm excited again. I believe in the organization. After all, it is about the Dallas Cowboys and not some drama queen with high demands resting on 34-32.
