"Stanback in the Michael Vick type of mold"- ESPN

Vick is an outstanding athlete and has a great arm but no accuracy. He just throws it up and hopes the wr gets too it first.

He was definately a first round pick but I kind of agree on the #1 overall.
I'll say this in Vick's defense:

The guy's receivers were absolutely horrific last year. They dropped more balls than .... (there's a joke in here somewhere, but I couldn't post it anyways). They didn't look like they even belonged in the NFL. Algie Crumpler included.

It'll be interesting to see what Joe Horn does out there next year.

Maybe they dropped them because the qb couldn't get the ball to them in the correct place. /devil's advocate :D

Bottom line, Stanback is ten times the person Ron Mexico is.

:)

It was pretty clear that their hands weren't the right place!

Seriously, though, they had the most remarkable case of "the dropsies" than I can remember ever seeing in the NFL.

Clearly, Vick is a flawed QB.

I think it is a shame (for the Falcons, anyway) that Dan Reeves was fired when he was. Reeves was a creative coach and I think he would have gotten more out of Vick's unique skill set.

I think Vick is one of the most athletic guys in the NFL, I just don't think much of him as a QB. He is too erratic as a QB

I think he's in the "Like every other QB that has converted to WR" role.

But very few of them can run a 10.48 in the 100, and not all of them also played wide receiver in college.

type in Wade Phillips and see what comes up. It gives me "Guy Isle of Man" for Wade Phillips.

Your first name Jim?

Can he catch the ball?

I have yet to see any highlight reels of him catching the ball let alone running patterns.

Yes. He was a WR his first two years at Washington.

I knew he was a WR but they must have swapped his position for a reason ;)

(either they really needed a QB or he couldnt catch :))

No. Michael Vick is a freak of nature. If Stanback was actually in the mold of Michael Vick, he wouldn't have been drafted in the fouth round.

Being "in the mold" of a player has nothing to do with talent level.

Vick 6'0 215lbs
Stanback 6'2 216lbs

Vick wasn't overhyped. He is one of the most incredible athletes to ever play in the NFL. Atlanta for some reason thought he could be a great NFL QB. They still haven't given up on it and every year he promises he will change and doesn't. He is at his best when he is running with the ball. If Stanback was like that, the rest of the NFL would have been all over him.

The homerism is in full swing about this guy.

Your homerism over Mike Vick is in full swing. Vick is THE most overhyped athlete in the history of sports.

his highlights are all him throwing the football, and running w/ it

I have been digging through the McFadden clips for the past 30 minutes.......

100m = 3937 inches

40yds = 1440 inches

1440/3937 = .36

.36 * 10.48 = 3.776 40 yard time?

This doesn't look right. Oh well the Borg refused to assimilate me 3 times.

Oh, I agree. I like him as a return guy and as a potential WR. He's look very shifty in his videos. I'm just saying, most QBs that switch to WR do so because they're very athletic. Nothing really new here.

You're faster the second 40 then you are the first 40 so that formula wouldn't work. And being that some people are faster off the line then others, no formula would be 100% correct.

And I :lmao2: at the Borg comment. :D
