Does anyone ever consider that maybe, just maybe, they aren't trying to defend a blown draft pick, but rather they are just trying to be kind and courteous to a guy who was a good soldier here?

Well, . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . that just cant be.

It doesnt fit the Jerry is crazy and always does the wrong thing scenario. It wouldnt do anything to feed the bash Jerry agenda, so it cant even be considered.

Im not sure what he did to earn so many "off center" fans jumping down his throat.

Either way, he's gone now. Instead of acting like Eagles fans, why is it so hard to just give him a, "Good luck and farewell" and be done with it?

Thats the thing, he did nothing.

He tripped over his own feet, was football stupid, and to top it off he showed up to camp out of shape and fat.

Good luck? Hardly.

In before "But but but but 4.5 yards per carry!!!"

Fat oaf is doomed on the Eagles.

I never seen the play where Felix tripped over his own feet.
Is there a video of it anywhere?

2009 draft is all Jerry's fault but I blame our coach staff for 2008 draft.

Felix Jones, Mike Jenkins, M. Bennett, T Choice, Scandrick, and E Walden were our picks. They are all talented players and somehow never developed in our team.

career, Stephen Jones.

Just shut up already. It is yet another blown draft pick.

Backs picked after Jones:

Rice
Johnson
Forte
Charles
Mendenhall

All far more productive in the NFL than Jones. All except Jones ad Mendenhall are still producing big time for the teams that picked them too.

And it's not revisionist history when they were widely criticized at the time!

Couch scouts like me could see that Ray Rice was the far better player, but not these 'experts'?

And now, after your two first round picks slink away to barely find work in the league, you want to try to put a spin on your failure?

Save your breath!

I hope this isn't indicative of an upcoming 20 years of lies from the next Jones in charge.

It's so sad that no other NFL team ever misses on draft picks except the Dallas Cowboys.

Yep ... and all those teams whiffing on draft picks have a fantastic success rate in the playoffs. Great comparison.

How many years are we going on ???

The '08 and '09 drafts should be the core of this team.

One player remains from those drafts: Orlando Scandrick.

True. Guess we'll just have to wait a few years until the '10, and '11 classes are the core players.

Side note relating to drafting Jones:

Has anyone else noticed that players who look old coming out of college typically have injury concerns?

Am I late to the party noticing this?

Stephen is taking after his old man. Stephen seems as incapable of admitting a mistake as Jerry.

Yeah, he should have bashed the player on his way out. "Felix sucked the whole time he was here...". That's what good GMs do.

I hadn't noticed that as much as what seems to be a correlation in good and bad drafts to the strength of the Cowboys coaches.

The more hands-on coaches like Johnson, Parcells, and Garrett seem to have better draft success than the hands-off guys like Switzer, Campo, and Phillips did.

Or is it just me?

I for one never thought that Felix was used correctly and I think he was really banged up the past few years and that impacted his productivity as well.

Yes, we could have picked someone else but overall I think he was a solid player for us.

We could have done a lot worse

I guess this is going to be the new "the 2009 draft sucked" topic that keeps getting beaten to death on this site. Its funny how people remember Felix here. He was a valuable asset. He was a great compliment to Marion Barber. His shelf life if he doesn't get back on track was short. You can't predict that. Jerry and co. don't have to save face with that pick. It was a good pick at the time and its still a good pick. We got 4 or 5 good years out of Felix. The average for a running back. Chris Johnson and Matt Forte aren't what they were a few seasons ago either.

Two things kept Felix from being a good quality Rb...Injuries and a coaching staff that is inept. Everyone is down on Felix but what has Murray done besides stay injured? The same people will bad mouth Murray when we release him in a couple of years. Someone mentioned Felix fumbling without being touched and him being caught from behind. I would like to see proof of this since I have watched every game the last ten years and can't seem to remember either of these things happening. If you all want to dump on someone dump on Free, someone who deserves it.

That is the standard for your first round pick now? Valuable, how? He was a role player that didn't contribute much even when healthy.

Charles and Rice whom you conveniently didn't mention were outstanding last season. Forte has been a pro bowler as has Johnson. Mendenhall, was much more productive.

2008 and 2009 are why this team has no depth and one reason it has cap issues.
