I've known of this guy from my ties to various NFL players. Only time will tell about BOTH of them. Who cares about being a coordinator??

You brought up McDaniels. He has been a coordinator and has experience. He has been compared to Tomlin. Also, another coach who had more experience and was a coordinator.

Being a head coach of a team is a little different than being the secondary coach where you have at most 5-7 players reporting to you.

Outside of Andy Reid, I cannot think of many successful coaches who have never been at least an offensive or defensive coordinator or ran a special teams unit.
