Raiders fans on Jihad Ward

And people forget that Marinelli produced good seasons from Terrell McClain and George Selvie, who weren't on an NFL roster when Dallas brought them in. Another example was Jeremy Mincey, who was a bargain basement FA that hadn't produced in years.

If Jihad Ward produces like the three guys I just listed, the trade is a win for us. Switzer was on the outside looking in after this draft.
Move a 6th round pick for Austin and this allows us to trade for DT, GREAT move.:bow::bow::bow: Upgrades return game and DL for a 6th round pick.:hammer:

This HAS to be THE dumbest FO, HC and drafting bunch ever. WHO in their right mind trades a a 2nd year 4th for a dead beat washout 2nd pick DT? This has to be the dumbest move during this draft. Goedirt was sitting there, these morons KNEW Witten was probably taking the MNF job, and they let the damn eagles move up ahead and take him... I'm just about over this clown troop. When is the clapping carrot going to come out on the field and sing his mickey mouse club house song! For petes sakes.

here is a little info for you. they were not interested in the tight end. They didnt even discuss him and wanted williams.

The eagles are the ones who traded up past Dallas for the tight end under false assumptions.

So, we can Dez, let Witten walk off and retire and NOT switch up our board to fit the holes/needs... yeah THAT there is some fine elite pro thinking.

BS, you can always make a change, depending on what's happening in front of you. There was plenty of time/room to move and go after a few players this team in all seriousness HAD to have to even be competitive in the east... they didn't so now we can look up from the bottom this season. I smell a good ole 6 game @ best winning season. I like many HATED how they sat on their hands and didn't do a thing to fix all the issues we had last year. Enjoy being a bottom feeder.....I wasn't even impressed with our 1st pick...then we go give away a solid 4th from last year in Switzer for a lump of coal... LOL Garrett shines at being stupid, and a easy push over

I would have hated it if they drafted a receiving te (glorified wr) over a OT that could play OG that should have went late 1st and last year would have went high in the first. Williams is a lot like Zack Martin. They made the obvious smart decision drafting Williams.

i want to disagree---but..it will not surprise me if our receiving corps still struggle to get open...that we get gashed because no serious 1-tech...and we get burned form not having a better free safety...i dont know what to think..cowboys either consistenly overestimate average players or for whatever reason they just go with it and say they are good...or it would not surpise me if cowboys became a force to be reckoned with and cruised into playoffs?...i dont know what to think ?

scenery and a scheme change. For the price it was worth the gamble. We'll see how that pans out. But Ward was out of place in the 3/4.

I agree, and you could say the same thing for Calvin Johnson great player no doubt but having a great #1 doesn't allow you to open up the passing game for the other guys. Matthew Stafford has played much better post CJ and that's because the passing game has turned into an open opportunity scheme.

With no true #1, and no legendary players on the team Dak will have his eyes set on whats open vs forcing the issue to get Dez & Witten then ball and I think it's going to benefit the team as a whole.
yes Stafford is better since departure of Johnson..something to be said to feeling free to find open receiver

Settle down, Bevis.

You're ruining it, and it doesn't even suck.

We gave up 7 rushing TDs and 1664 yds rushing. The 7 is good. We were 25th in rushing yards per game given up. So we could definitely improve. However, we scored 10 ppg or less 4 times. That gives the opposing offense a lot of opportunities and also a lot of time running out the clock. In 2016 we gave up 1336 on 60 less carries. We had the ball more than the other teams most of the time.

So we aren't really that bad at run defense. That's why the staff isn't going bonkers trying to bolster the run defense. It's adequate. We spent our resources addressing the needs of the team. Most PPG given up are via the pass. Our three UDFA DBs look very good. All three.

We're in much better shape now. Lee and Wilson and Smith can play cover along with LVE. Hopefully, Gregory is back and helps out. We have the rush now to help the back 7.

We gave up 332 points or 20.8 PPG and ranked 13 out of 32 teams. We will be much better and I suspect we will get into the 17 PPG range which is a winner.

Let not your heart be troubled.
yes i like that reasoning...i think i over reacted after that horrible 3-game skid in which we did not score anymore than 10 points...and lost too much faith in leadership...when in fact it seems leadership did what they could not to have a repeat of that horrible 3 game skid...get reliable back up LT and good LG and another high quality linebacker in case of injuries...so i do agree with that approach...hopefeully the new passing game coach can weave together an effectiv3e plan with the guys we got...i like the Bo Scar-face pick to ram after 3 and 1/2 quarters of getting beat up by Zeke...Matthew Stafford played a lot better too after Calvin johnson retired...so...maybe Dez just got into Daks head too much for Dak to read the field as he should have?...and this no-name group may in fact bring better results in passing game?...I just hope these changes are more in line with Dak's strengths so it does not become too much change that confuses Dak...but i am starting to feel better about our chances

Maybe, I just can't wrap my head around giving away Switzer for a nobody, done nothing player. Granted Switz wasn't used all that much, but IMO he was better talent then we got.
