Raiders fans on Jihad Ward

Like most fans.....the player is the GOAT while they're playing for their team but the moment they're gone they're garbage.

They can go from the GOAT to trash in seconds.
I dont think raiders fans ever thought he was the 2nd coming of ho
You should see what fans said about Lawrence after 2 years. And if we'd have traded him many would have said much worse than what is in that thread.

In fact just look at what people are saying about "soft Taco" now. You'd think fans would learn their lessons....
Lawrence had at least shown flashes in the playoffs in year 1.
This guy has shown nothing. Hoping a change if scenery is a help. It doesn't help he was over drafted either..

All of what you said is correct, but none of that stuff was there in 2016, except for the occasional flutter ball. If the Cowboys can pass protect again, run the ball like they want to, and make Dak a complementary part of the offense, he and the offense will be just fine again.
I am happy to accept that. I missed '16, so my watchful eye only really saw his work of last season.

Fuzzy---yes for me a 300 + lb DT who only presses 20 on bench is not strong...but more precisely 20 is probably the cut-off point before coaches have concern...so i agree i was a little over the top on that one...and you are correct...when i went back to check he was projected 3rd round not 5th...but saying his jumps are good for a man his size...25 verticle is not good sir and a 4.63 shuttle is slow sir and a 1.75 10 yd dash is very slow sir..but thank you for the corrections

That you do not even talk about his arm length shows me you don't know what you are talking about.

Michael Brockers -another long armed prospect- put up 21 and everyone know he was a beast.

Buckner did too.

And frankly basing your dislike almost entirely on combine measurements from 2 years ago tells me you are reaching hard to dislike this pick. Being flat wrong on his ranking didn't even move you a bit. You want to dislike this pick.

Fans are stupid, ignorant of the whole picture and impatient. I include us in that statement also.
Especially myself, except for the patient part...
I beg to differ from you. I have on good authority that we Cowboys fans are the most intelligent, knowledgeable football fans on earth. If only the coaching staff and FO would listen to us we would be winning the Super Bowl every year. It's true because I have been told on this site several times.

Let's not kid ourselves - the young man has some real issues with mechanics, field awareness, getting rattled and accuracy. Some of that is experience, some of that appears a bit... scary.
He needs to show tangible improvement next year, or this team could be in real trouble.

mr Corso--- thanks it means a lot to me to hear others see things objectively about Dak and not just gulping Kool-aid...i mean this is the off-season and as fans it is our right ( cause we are the ones who turned Jerry's 180 mil investment into a 4.5 billion dollar empire ) to point out areas of weakness and concern about our team...and not just blindly following other lemmings off the cliff into the big ocean of Kool-aid...providing we give clear supportive evidence and not just hiding behind cowboys to disguise our hateful hearts

On one of the shows, either ESPN or NFLN, when asked, one of the analyst said...basically nothing for nothing....
But I don’t think he meant it in a derogatory way. More like an even trade for 2 players that have done nothing, but may help each team they are going to, jist a wait and see type deal.
Charles Casserly said that. He felt the trade was meh.

All I can take from the trade for Jihad Ward is that we hated Switzer and were really thin at DT..... which makes the selection of a G at #50 all the more puzzling.

mr Fuzzy-- sir first...i specfically acknowledged my error in his projected ranking so how does that mean it did not move me a bit?...and because i did not mention his 34 in arms...that means i have no idea what i am talking about?...so the Raiders had no idea either that is why Ward was a healthy scratch for many games?..well..Ok....to be honest i really hope it turns out i have no idea what i am talking about and Ward totally "balls" out for cowboys...i would much rather look stupid and foolish and cowboys kick serious rear-end then me look right and cowboys go 8-8 or worse

I'm sold!

Did we sign an OG or OT that could start that I didn't know about. Picking Williams has nothing to do with WR or DT.

atlanta-- personally i totally love the pick at #50 for Connor Williams...he has a first round grade...did you see him on draft show after he was selected?...the dude is 6 foot 5 and 320 pounds but no fat....the dude is a bull-dozing maniac with a mean streak in him...our O Line this year has been greatly improved with him and the others we got in free agency...so no more games like we saw in Atlanta last year...but i was not pleased with the Switzer trade and i hope i turn out to be an ignorant cowboy fan who could not see the true picture and Ward "balls" out for us cause the coaches really like him...and i am frustrated that the coaches seem not to be overly concerned about our 1-tech players....i think with DT Collins whose foot was hurt most all of last year but now is healthy will play much better at the 1-tech?...but i guess we will see?

Guys with long arms have a harder time lifting than guys with short arms. It has to do with torque and how a longer radius provides more rotational force at the fulcrum. The fulcrum here is the elbow.

I posted two other prospects that were notably strong in Brockers and Buckner to illustrate the point.

You still think Ward is weak. You have not changed.

As an aside, I do like how you get extra polite when irritated. You are much more civilized than most around here.

Dez wasn't a number one. That's why no one wants him.
verdict--unfortunately i believe you are correct....i think Dez has many people around him telling him what he wants to hear but no real friends who will risk things by telling him the real score

Fuzzy---now...that is very true...i did not calculate his long arms in my critique of his bench press....i knew this short arm guy who i was stronger than him overall when we wrestled and stuff but he almost doubled my bench press weight

i like the post through and through. Ward put up 20 reps and has 34" arms. His Bj was over 100 inches. That is not weak and people who say that he is based on his combine are ignorant.
yes i remember Jake Butt still being there....i wanted him too...we will be scrambling to make up for Witten until we do

they seem well rid of him....

Ward was a developmental project who played a lot his first year, then was injured his second. He played when he wasn't ready, then got injured. We were interested in drafting him after coaching him at the Senior Bowl.

We're getting a draft pick we wanted with a couple years of NFL training for nothing. I'll call it a win.
